Seeing Mavis Staples this weekend made me want to play a lot of her dad’s group, but it also spoke to the conditions in the country this week. Followed with further socially conscious R&B, then a bit of Dylan (who Mavis was opening for).
There was some Beatles, since their “Nowhere Man” EP was released in the UK a half century ago today, and some Beck, since today was his 46th birthday. Had to play some more Elvis, continuing the salute to his guitarist Scotty Moore who died earlier this month. Closed with some Dave Davies.
