DocDarrylHow do you top its five-part O.J. documentary? “Doc & Darryl,” the new film from Judd Apatow and Michael Bonfiglio on “30 for 30” (ESPN, 9 p.m.) about New York Mets superstars Dwight Gooden and Darryl Strawberry,  comes pretty close. The pitcher and slugger who jumpstarted the sad sack team in the mid 80s only to be in and out of rehab and trouble ever since meet up together over pie at a diner.

They both were raised by alcoholics; they continued their partying ways all during their reign. Once they won the Series in 1986, the partying took precedence, so much so that Gooden never made it to the ticker tape parade. There mere survival into middle age, though, brings some measure of good feeling. It’s also good to see Jon Stewart, too, among the commentators.
