Somebody is supposed to die on tonight’s summer finale of “Pretty Little Liars” (Freeform, 8 p.m.), which comes on the heels of the announcement Monday that the show will end after its upcoming seventh season. It’s the end of the summer episodes for “Dead of Summer” (Freeform, 9 p.m.) also reaches its finale.
Oftentimes “The Bachelor” and its spin-offs operate around the craziness of just one character. On “Bachelor in Paradise” (ABC, 8 p.m.), it’s definitely Ashley. She’s at the center of the second two-hour episode in as many days. Reality rules TV in late summer with two hours of semifinals of “America’s Got Talent” (NBC, 8 p.m.).
On the new “Facing” (National Geographic, 9 p.m.), the show apparently doesn’t actually come face to face with its subjects, which tonight is Pablo Escobar. But they do interview those who did.
Having solved the mysteries of the universe (or at least considered them), the seventh (!) season of “Through the Wormhole with Morgan Freeman” (Science, 10 p.m.) looks at concerns closer to home, starting with terrorism.
Last week’s premiere of “Better Late Than Never” (NBC, 10 p.m.), in which Henry Winkler and William Shatner lead others on a whirlwind trip, did pretty well in the ratings. Tonight George Foreman, Terry Bradshaw and Jeff Dye join them on a tour to Kyoto and Hong Kong.
Having Bridget Moynahan as guest judge may prove a distraction to the young cooks on “Chopped Junior” (Food, 8 p.m.).
Pluto ends up on the fourth season premiere of “NASA’s Unexplained Files” (Science, 9 p.m.).
The death a week ago of actor Steven Hill leads to a night of five episodes of “Law & Order” (WeTV, 8 p.m.) in which his character, district attorney Adam Schiff, was particularly featured.
By the way, the Turner Classic Movies salute to Gene Wilder, who died Monday, will be late next month, on Sept. 29.
Tonight, TCM starts to wind up its summer of the stars with the films of Jean Simmons in “This Could Be the Night” (6 a.m.), “She Couldn’t Say No” (8 p.m.), “Home Before Dark” (9:45 a.m.), “Affair with a Stranger” (12:15 p.m.), “Angel Face” (2 p.m.), “So Long at the Fair” (3:45 p.m.), “Guys and Dolls” (5:15 p.m.), “Young Bess” (8 p.m.), “Spartacus” (10 p.m.), “Hamlet” (1:30 a.m.) and “The Actress” (4:15 a.m.).
Baseball tonight includes Pittsburgh at Cubs (MLB, 8 p.m.).
