22nd Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards Nominations, Los Angeles, America - 09 Dec 2015A hint about Oscar prospects may be gleaned from the winners of The 23rd Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards (TBS, TNT, 8 p.m.). Because  its big awards go to ensembles, the otherwise much-nominated “La La Land” is shut out of that category. “Manchester by the Sea” gets the most nominations; Viggo Mortensen’s “Captain Fantastic” has a couple as well. In its TV categories, Netflix’ “The Crown,” “Game of Thrones” and “”The People vs. O.J Simpson  all lead with three nominations each. Jane Fonda and Dolly Parton present Lily Tomlin with a life achievement award. Red Carpet Coverage (E!, 6 p.m.) precedes it.

As recently as 2015 it was run by your current president. But The 65th Miss Universe Pageant (Fox, 7 p.m.) continues, this year from Manila. Steve Manila who announced the wrong winner last year, still got the gig this year.

The career of the esteemed newsman is marked in the special “Tom Brokaw: The First 50 Years” (NBC, 9 p.m.), with testimonies from Jon Stewart, Tom Hanks, Bill Gates, Oprah Winfrey, David Leterman, Lorne Michaels and Lin-Manuel Miranda.

“The Affair” (Showtime, 9 p.m.) ends its third season in Paris, of all places.

“Conviction” (ABC, 10 p.m.) ends its first season after 13 episodes; don’t expect to see another season.

The documentary survey of Henry VII’s wives by Lucy Worsley continues on “Secrets of the Six Wives” (PBS, 10 p.m., check local listings), concentrating on Anne Boleyn and Jane Seymour.

“Victoria” (PBS, 9 p.m., check local listings) gets a visit from Albert.

The final season of “Black Sails” (Starz, 9 p.m.) begins with a pirate war in the West Indies.

The finale for “Roast Battle” (Comedy Central, 10 p.m.) is live.

“To Tell the Truth” (ABC, 8 p.m.) has Rachel Platten, Gabriel Iglesias, Lauren Ash and Craig Robinson on the panel. Then at 9, it’s Natasha Leggier, Jamie Kennedy, Rachel Dratch and Andy Grammar.

Joan is among the hostages on “Elementary” (CBS, 10 p.m.).

Fiction seems more sensible on “Madam Secretary” (CBS, 9 p.m.).

The tour ends on “Mariah’s World” (The E, 9 p.m.).

Hockey’s All Star Game (NBC, 2:30 p.m.) is played in Los Angeles.

The NFL has its Pro Bowl with the AFC vs. NFC (ESPN, 7:50 p.m.) from Orlando.

Men’s college hoops includes Michigan at Michigan State (CBS, 1 p.m.), Virginia at Villanova (Fox, 1 p.m.), Colgate at American (CBS Sports, 2 p.m.), Washington at Arizona (Fox, 4 p.m.), Wichita State at Bradley (ESPNU, 4 pm.), Xavier at St. John’s (Fox Sports 1, 6 p.m.), Boston College at Virginia Tech (ESPNU, 6:30 p.m.) and Stanford at California (ESPNU, 8:30 p.m.).

Women’s games include South Florida at Temple (CBS Sports, noon), Virginia at Notre Dame (ESPNU, noon), Iowa at Maryland (ESPN2, 2 p.m.), Oregon at Oregon State (ESPNU, 2 p.m.), West Virginia at Texas (Fox Sports 1, 4 p.m.) and Oklahoma at Baylor (ESPN2, 6:30 p.m.).
