The third and final season of “Broadchurch” (BBC America, 10 p.m.) returns Olivia Colman and David Tennant as the mismatched detectives at a seaside town investigating a new case, a brutal rape. The first season murder that dominated the series even in its second season still lingers — the father of the victim (Andrew Buchan) has just written a memoir; the mother (Jodie Whittaker) a rape counselor. Also returning: the growing array of possible suspects, the tense musical track and the purveying sense of dread.
One of the most anticipated movies of the summer debuts today on an online TV service. “Okja” (Netflix, streaming), a fantasy about a girl who tries to save a fanciful pet — part pig, part hippo — from the slaughterhouse was a hit at Cannes for filmmaker Boon Joon Ho, the South Korean director whose past work includes “Snowpiercer.” Like that film, it features Tilda Swinton, but it also features Paul Dano, Jake Gyllenhaal with An Seo Hyun as the tween who tries to save her computer-generated creature.
“Big Brother” (CBS, 8 p.m.) begins its 19th season with another 16 houseguests, some of them older than usual. Ten are in their 20s; five are in their 30s and there’s one poor old 55 year old guy. Among their occupations: fitness “superstar,” radio personality, government engines, dog walker, personal trainer, dance teacher, cosplay artist, stay at home dad, microbiologist and rodeo clown. There’s a supposed twist this year that involves far more cash temptations. “Big Brother After Dark” won’t start until tomorrow night at 1 a.m.
On the new “Hood Adjacent with James Davis” (Comedy Central, 9 p.m.) the host introduces audiences to South Central Los Angeles.

When last seen, she had kissed her boss, sabotaged a proposal from a younger boyfriend and confessed her actual age to her friend played by Hilary Duff.
A second season starts for one of TV’s most unusual series, “Cleverman” (Sundance, 10 p.m.) about the connection between the ancient aboriginal people of Australia and the spirit world represented by the title character, played by Hunter Page-Lochard.

The terrible title for tonight’s episode of “Cutthroat Kitchen” (Food, 8 p.m.) is “Do You Really Wonton Hurt Me?”
Mario Lopez, Christina Millian and Kerri Walsh Jennings and their kids appear on “Big Star Little Star” (USA, 9 p.m.). At 10, it’s Harold Perrineau, Penn Jillette and Brook Burke and their kids.
Cheryl Burke, Rachel Dratch, Natasha Leggier and Wanda Morris play “To Tell the Truth” (ABC, 10 p.m.).
Among the gullible on tonight’s “Hollywood Medium with Tyler Henry” (E!, 8 p.m.) include Johnny Weir, Nancy Grace and fromm “Vanderpump Rules” Stassi and Kristen.
