Did you hear the one about the native dogsled champion with one good leg? “Independent Lens” (PBS, 10 p.m., check local listings) takes a look at the achievements of George Attla, who had a knack to finding and training top dogs. Catharine Axley directs the portrait that took place in a part of Alaska overturned by the discovery of oil in the late 1960s.

The finale of “The Voice” (NBC, 8 p.m.) this week is pretty well balance, with one contestant for every judges’ team. Battling it out will be Ricky Duran of Team Blake, Jake Hoot of Team Kelly, Katie Kadan of Team Legend and Rose Short of Team Gwen.

“Jimmy Kimmel Live After Darth: A Star Wars Special” (ABC, 10 p.m.) is a company synergy product about Disney’s impeding “Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker” release in the theaters. JJ Abrams, Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, Billy Dee Williams, Anthony Daniels, Naomi Ackie, Kelly Marie Tran and Keri Russell join him in a special that out to be a bit better than the 1978 “Star Wars Holiday Special.” The show also serves as a quick turnaround for his own “Jimmy Kimmel Live” (ABC, 11:35 p.m.) 95 minutes later.

Derek Hough and his sister Julianne Hough host a Christmas dance variety special in “Holiday with the Houghs” (NBC, 10 p.m.).

There’s so many on now it’s hard to believe anyone would want to watch an hour of “Greatest Holiday Commercials Countdown 2019” (CW, 9 p.m.).

Hoping to be funnier yet: “Nick Cannon’s Hit Viral Videos – Holidays 2019” (Fox, 8 p.m.) with Kelly Osbourne, J.B. Smoove and Jeannie Mai helping cull through holiday-related online videos.

Lyra tries to outwit her foe on “His Dark Materials” (HBO, 9 p.m.).

An addendum to the successful series blending nostalgia and renovation is “A Very Brady Renovation: Holiday Edition” (HGTV, 10 p.m.), on which the beloved cast start decorating their newly refurbished TV house.

 

“The Great Christmas Light Fight” (ABC, 8 p.m.) presents some more over-doing.

It’s a Christmas themed episode of “Botched” (E!, 10 p.m.).

“Bull” (CBS, 10 p.m.) takes a pro bono murder case during the holidays.

And there’s a Christmas episode of “Good Trouble” (Freeform, 9 p.m.).

A complaint is made about Lola right around Christmas time on “All Rise” (CBS, 9 p.m.).

On “Bob (Hearts) Abishola” (CBS, 8:30 p.m.), an effort is made to have Dottie make a will.

And it’s Christmas, too, on “The Neighborhood” (CBS, 8 p.m.).

“Love & Hip Hop Hollywood” (VH1, 10 p.m.) continues its reunion episodes.

An Egyptian volcano is examined on “Secrets” (Smithsonian, 8 p.m.).

With two doses of “Holiday Baking Championship” (Food, 8 ad 9 p.m.) and one more of “Christmas Cookie Challenge” (Food, 10 p.m.) there might as well be a Christmas dishwashing competition as well.

Before Greta Gerwig’s 2019 version opens, Turner Classic Movies has the 1933 film of “Little Women” (8 p.m.) as well as the 1948 “Little Women” (10:15 p.m.). The long day of movies and their remakes continues with the 1934 “Imitation of Life” (12:30 a.m.) and the 1959 “Imitation of Life” (2:30 a.m.) as well as the 1936 “Anna Karenina” (4:45 a.m.) and the 1948 version of “Anna Karenina” (6:30 a.m.).
