There’s no Marvel character too minor to spin into a series, so here’s one about Thor’s mischievous brother who will endeavor to be more of a hero in his own series “Loki” (Disney+, streaming), with Tom Hiddleston reprising his role in “Avengers: Endgame.” Owen Wilson and Richard E. Grant are part of it.
The new sci-fi film “Awake” (Netflix, streaming), is set in a time when electronics are wiped out and nobody is able to sleep. Gina Rodriguez, Jennifer Sason Leigh and Barry Pepper also star.
Kelsea Ballerini and Kate Brown host the 2021 CMT Music Awards (CMT, MTV, MTV2, Logo, Paramount, TV Land, 8 p.m.). Performers include Chris Stapleton, Luke Combs, Luke Bryan, Thomas Rhett, Mickey Guyton and Chris Young, as well as Miranda Lambert with Jack Ingram and Jon Randall.
Maren Morris and Gabby Barrett dropped out of performances at the last minute. Morris, who tied with Lambert as having the most nominations, will replaced by Ingrid Address in a duet with JP Saxe; Barrett was was going to sing with Lady A and Carly Pearce, but she’ll be replaced by Lindsey Ell. Morris claimed a “scheduling conflict”; Barrett cited “personal circumstances.” Also probably out: Carrie Underwood, after a hard fall at her home Friday night that broke a wrist.
After five seasons, the crime saga “Queen of the South” (USA, 10 p.m.) comes to an end, and Alice Braga’s title character hopes to make it through alive.
The new series “Filth Fighter” (TLC, 10 p.m.) actually may be more gross than “Hoarders.” People got some messed up homes.
In the new series “BET Presents the Encore” (BET, 10 p.m.), puts together solo artists and girl groups from the 1990s and 2000s to form a new supergroup within 30 days. Aubrey O’Day, Kiely Williams and Shamari DeVoe are among those taking part.
