Live country music is celebrated in the CMA Summer Jam (ABC, 8 p.m.), a three hour special culled from a two night event at Nashville’s Ascend Amphitheater in late July. Among the performers are Dwight Yoakam and Carrie Underwood, pictured above, as well as Luke Bryan, Mickey Guyton, Carly Pearce, Blake Shelton, Gwen Stefani, Cole Swindell, Lainey Wilson, Jimmie Allen, Gabby Barrett, Dierks Bentley, Brothers Osborne, Luke Combs, Florida Georgia Line, Miranda Lambert, Jon Pardi and Thomas Rhett.
Two of TV’s best comedies return tonight with new seasons. “What We Do in the Shadows” (FX, 10 p.m.) begins its third season adjusting to the shock that Guillermo was a vampire hunter. And in a second episode at 10:30 p.m., Nandor tries to romance the health club receptionist. And “A.P. Bio” (Peacock, streaming) is back for its fourth season with Glenn Hwowerton, Patton Oswald and Paula Pell leading one of the best comedy ensembles today.
Anthony Hopkins won an Oscar for his work as an aging man with dementia in “The Father” (Starz, 9 p.m.), making its premium cable debut. Olivia Colman also stars.
The new animated adult comedy “Q-Force” (Netflix, streaming) about an ousted intelligence offficer who begins his own team of LBGTQ+ agents. Wanda Sykes, Matt Rogers and Patti Harrison round out the cast.
Victoria Justice stars as a woman who nearly dies before her birthday week in the new vilm “Afterlife of the Party” (Netflix, streaming).
