Two days after the notable season finale of “Curb Your Enthusiasm” (where the Funkhauser mantle has been picked up by Vince Vaughn), a documentary pays loving tribute to the erstwhile Marty Funkhauser, Bob Einstein. Einstein, who died in 2019 at 76, made his name as a writer on “The Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour” where he appeared as Officer Judy. He created the spoofy stuntman Super Dave Osborne that lasted decades and was brother of comedian Albert Brooks.

Among those singing his praises in “The Super Bob Einstein Movie” (HBO, 9 p.m.) are David Letterman, Jerry Seinfeld, Steve Martin and everyone on “Curb.”

The latest retrospective of the year is led by a comic and a rap star. “2021 and Done with Snoop Dogg & Kevin Hart” (Peacock, streaming) also features Mark Cuban, DJ D-Nice, DL Hughley, Loni Love, Killer Mike, William Shatner and Michael Strahan.

The fluffier elements are recounted in the countdown special “Popstar’s Best of 2021” (CW, 8 p.m.) hosted by Elizabeth Stanton.

Former Germany Prime Minister Angela Merkel’s story is told “In Their Own Words” (PBS, 8 p.m., check local listings).

“Love Life” (HBO2, 10 and 10:30 p.m.) is the latest streaming series to make its way to cable.

Already the subject of several documentaries, “The Hillside Strangler” (Discoery+, streaming) is a new one about the Los Angeles serial killer of the 1970s. But the man convicted of the crimes says it wasn’t him; it was one of his alternate personalities.
