A new year suddenly brings new episodes and new shows to boot.
The first of the new network offerings isn’t much. “The Cleaning Lady” (Fox, 9 p.m.) involves a undocumented Cambodian doctor who tries to make a living in Las Vegas cleaning up. First it’s casinos, then the mess left behind by mobsters after she witnesses a murder. Elodie Yung is fine in the lead role, but the bad guys are such an array of thin cliches and the setting so dark, it can’t really compete.
Jimmy Fallon hosts the new “That’s My Jam” (NBC, 9 p.m.), which doesn’t seem so new since they’ve been dropping sneak peek episodes for a month. It involves celebrity-led teams competing in a series of games. Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Chance the Rapper, Alessia Cara and Josh Groban play tonight.
“The Bachelor” (ABC, 8 p.m.) returns, probably a little too soon, featuring the dimmest bulb they’ve had in a while at its center, Clayton Echard, whose memorable quote from the most recent season of “The Bachelorette” was along the lines of “I like food.”
Season three begins for “9-1-1: Lone Star” (Fox, 8 p.m.) amid a massive Texas ice storm. Its star Rob Lowe can also be seen continuing to host “The ‘80s: Top Ten” (National Geographic, 9 and 10 p.m.), counting down the decade’s top gadgets and toys in the two concluding episodes.
“Kenan” (NBC, 8 p.m.) begins its second season with a pairof episodes. In the first, he tries dating apps; tin the second,TikTok becomes a problem.
