I had just about written off all broadcast dramas at this point but the lively new limited series “The Thing About Pam” (NBC, 10 p.m.) is quirky in a “Fargo” kind of way that also exaggerates the arch narration of their own “Dateline” — Keith Morrison narrates! Hats off to Renée Zellweger (who also produced) to go all out in portraying the frumpily sinister Pam Hupp. Not only is it a more accurate representation of its suburban Midwest setting, it’s far more entertaining than any number of sleek, coastal Nicole Kidman cable series. Likewise Katy Mixon (“American Housewife”) as the poor victim. Judy Greer and Josh Duhamel square off in the subsequent court case.
A more serious tone is struck by Erin Lee Carr’s “Undercurrent: The Disappearance of Kim Wall” (HBO, 9 p.m.), a two-part true crime documentary about the 2001 death of a journalist while reporting on a submarine — a case dramatized last year on HBO in the Danish series “The Investigation.” Both parts play tonight.
The two-part “Perfect World_ A Deadly Game” (Peacock, streaming), about video gamers who think they’ve stumbled onto a murder case, is the first of a series of true crime series that will debut on Tuesdays.
“Taylor Tomlinson: Look at You” (Netflix, streaming) is the second standup comedy special from the comic, taped in Boston.
“The Bachelor” (ABC, 8 p.m.) goes to Iceland and everything all goes wrong in the fantasy suites. It should all end tonight, but they may well stretch the finale two more episodes.
A Japanese comedy duo host the new “Last One Standing” (Netflix, streaming) in which comedians battle one another, inserting improvised lines into partly scripted scenes.
