The most important series of the summer returns for a closing argument in advance of the midterm elections. The House Select Committee Investigating the Jan. 6 Attack on the U.S. Capitol (ABC, CBS, NBC, CNN, MSNBC, CSPAN, 1 p.m.) has an afternoon session. No witnesses are expected to testify in person, but there is new information expected to be shared, culled from recent testimony. Highlights will be replayed tonight at 8 on MSNBC.
On the new miniseries “The Watcher” (Netflix, streaming), Bobby Cannavale and Naomi Watts play a couple who move into a dream house, only to receive threatening letters. Ryan Murphy is co-creator; the cast includes Jennifer Coolidge, Mia Farrow, Margo Martindale and Richard Kind.
The meticulously animated Japanese sci-fi series “Exception” (Netflix, streaming) concerns a space ship in the future fleeing Earth with a crew created through a biological 3D printer. It’s written by Hirotaka Adachi, also known as Otsuichi, with character design by Yoshitaka Amano and music from Ryutchi Sakamoto.
From Sweden comes the six-part drama “The Playlist” (Netflix, streaming) about the creation of a music service much like Spotify. Edvin Endre stars.
From Brazil comes the new rom-com “Someone Borrowed” (Netflix, streaming) a man with a bad dating history hires a surrogate wife to fool his dying mother. Caio Castro stars.
A second season starts for animated kids series “Dead End: Paranormal Park” (Netflix, streaming).
How fast the seasons change: Returning for a second season is “Winter House” (Bravo, 9 p.m.), in which cast members from “Summer House” spend two weeks at a winter getaway in Vermont, along with people from “Southern Charm” (Bravo, 8 p.m.), which continues its reunion.
The British comedian and TV host looks for new experiences in South America in her new series “Sue Perkins: Perfectly Legal” (Netflix, streaming).
