The centennial year of jazz giant Charles Mingus is celebrated in concert, kicking off a new series “Next at Kennedy Center” (PBS, 9 p.m., check local listings) presenting performances from the arts center in Washington, D.C. Among those featured tonight are  Charles McPherson, Jason Moran, Georgia Anne Muldrow, Robert Glasper, Christian Scott aTunde Adjuah, Keki Mingus and Christian McBride.

Charlie Hunnam plays a fugitive looking to get lost in 1980s Bombay in the new series “Shantaram” (Apple TV+, streaming), based on the the novel by Gregory David Roberts. The first three episodes are out today. 

“High School” (FreeVee, streaming) is a pretty generic name for a charming series based on the memoir of Tegan and Sara Quin about their upbringing in Canada and throwing together as a pop duo. The two are played by Railey and Seazynn Gilliland, who aren’t actresses, but were found on Instagram for this nice little show. Four episodes are available today.

The latest sequel of the slasher film that won’t die, “Halloween Ends” (Peacock, streaming, with Jamie Lee Curtis, is on TV as well as theaters. 

Kaitlyn Dever stars as “Rosaline” (Hulu, streaming), a comic version of “Romeo and Juliet” as told by Romen’s ex. 

Marlon Wayans stars as a dad working with his daughter (Priah Ferguson) to save their town after she accidentally releases a demon spirit on Halloween in the seasonal comedy “The Curse of Bridge Hollow” (Netflix, streaming) that also features Kelly Rowland and Lauren Lapkus. 

From Italy comes the new series “Everything Calls for Salvation” (Netflix, streaming) about a young man who wakes up in a psychiatric ward. 

The country artists Luke Combs, Walker Hayes, Kane Brown, Cody Johnson and Carly Pearce are honored as this year’s “CMT Artists of the Year” (CMT, 9 p.m.).
