Paid homage to Donn Adams, trombonist, Whole Wheat Horns leader and Terry’s big brother in NRBQ. Also saluted the long life of April Stevens, best known from her work with her brother Nino Tempo, who died last week at 93.
There were birthdays to celebrate, from Creedence drummer Doug Clifford (78) to Blondie bassist Nigel Harrison (72) and especially producer Tony Visconti (79), who produced classics from T.Rex, David Bowie and many others including Iggy Pop, Alejandro Escovedo, Luscious Jackson and Dean & Britta.
Closed with unexpected new music from two smart English duos, Pet Shop Boys and, pictured above, Everything but the Girl.
