The 36th season of the indispensable documentary series “POV” (PBS, 10 p.m., check local listings) kicks off with Jon-Sesrie Goff’s impressionistic film “After Sherman,” about the people of coastal Carolina, how they’ve been cheated out of land ownership and the connections to the church shooting in Charleston.
“The Bachelorette” (ABC, 9 p.m.) begins a new season, with Charity Lawson, a therapist from Georgia who was rejected by Zach Shallcross in season 27 of “The Bachelor,” choosing from the 25 suitors.
“Claim to Fame” (ABC, 8 p.m.), the series in which siblings of famous people try to figure out others’ relations, returns for a second season. Hosts are Kevin and Frankie Jonas — only one of whom is in the Jonas Brothers.
Speaking of low grade celebs, it’s double elimination night for “Stars on Mars” (Fox, 8 p.m.).
The new crime drama “Cannes Confidential” (Acorn TV, streaming) is the first series allowed access to the glitzy film city in nearly 50 years; that doesn’t mean the rest of the series, led by Jamie Bamber and Tamara Marthe, isn’t fraught with cliches.
The new series “Average Joe” (BET+, streaming), stars Deon Cole as a plumber who learns his father stole millions from dangerous people just before he died.
“American Ninja Warrior” (NBC, 8 p.m.) continues qualifying rounds in Los Angeles.
