The new series “Quarterback” (Netflix, streaming) promises an inside look at a select group of top NFL QBs, at home and on the field. The first to take part are Patrick Mahomes, above, as well as Kirk Cousins and Marcus Mariota.
Speaking of sports, ESPN takes advantage of the All-Star break to throw “The 2023 ESPYs” (ABC, 8 p.m.). Lil Wayne and H.E.R. will perform. Attendees will include Mike Tyson, Kyle Irving, Dwyane Wade and Sue Bird. But there’s no host this year due to the writers’ strike.
“The Afterparty” (Apple TV+, streaming), the complex comedy, launches a second season with a new murder to solve — this time at a wedding. Tiffany Haddish, Sam Richardson and Zoe Chao all return; with Elizabeth Perkins, Poppy Liu, Anna Konkle, John Cho and Ken Jeong among those joining the cast.
A Mexican version of the baking competition “Sugar Rush” is called “Sugar Rush: The Baking Point” (Netflix, streaming).
Other culinary competition continues on “MasterChef” (Fox, 8 p.m.). “Gordon Ramsay’s Food Stars” (Fox, 9 p.m.), meanwhile, encourages contestants to create TIkToks.
The Sons close in on “Mayans M.C.” (FX, 10 p.m.) in the penultimate episode of the series.
“Human Footprint” (PBS, 9 p.m., check local listings) demonstrates how human biology, culture, technology and economy put humans at the top of the planetary food chain.
