Dick Van Dyke, who turned 98 this month, is celebrated in a two hour special tonight “Dick Van Dyke 98 Years of Magic” (CBS, 9 p.m.), featuring a number of stars singing songs associated with the musicals and TV shows he’s been a part of. Most of the songs are from “Mary Poppins” whose songs are sung by Jason Alexander, Zachary Levi, Amber Riley, Jodi Siwa and Rita Ora. But Rufus Wainwright will perform “Hushabye Mountain” from “Chatty Chitty Bang Bang.” And Weird Al Yankovic plays the theme of “The Dick Van Dyke Show.”
Dozens of celebrities are on hand to toast the entertainer, including Julie Andrews, Judd Apatow, Mel Brooks, Carol Burnett, Jim Carrey, Cedric the Entertainer, Stephen Colbert, Lin-Manuel Miranda, Rob Reiner, Martin Short and William Shatner.
Highlights from the “iHeartRadio Jingle Ball” (ABC, 8 p.m.) held this month in New York and Los Angeles, feature performances from Olivia Rodrigo, Usher, Nicki Minaj, OneRepublic, SZA, Sabrina Carpenter, Cher and Jelly Roll, among others. Ryan Seacrest and Elvis Duran host.
The new season of “Dr. Death” (Peacock, streaming) follows a Swiss-Italian surgeon who became famous for the first synthetic organ transplant, only to be proven a con man. Edgar Ramirez and Mandy Moore star in the series, which is accompanied by a documentary in the actual subject in question, “Dr. Death: Cutthroat Conman” (Peacock, streaming).
The latest comedy special from the Boston comic is “Gary Gilman: Born on 3rd Base” (Max, streaming).
Five women with romance problems meet up for Thanksgiving in the new film “Whatever It Takes” (BET+, streaming) with Kandi Burruss, Tami Roman, Brely Evans, AJ Johnson and Rayan Lawrence.
