Back with a new show for the first time in a month, we begin with a slight survey of where we’ve been, mostly concentrating on Ireland. Then it was time to salute the influential French chanteuse, model and sometime actress  Françiose Hardy, who died last week at 80, pausing to pay tribute to  Arthur “Gaps” Henderson, frontman of the ska band The Selecter, who died recently at age 73.

Birthdays were noted for modernist composer Igor Stravinsky, born this day in 1882; Gene Vincent guitarist Cliff Gallup (1930), and folksinger and songwriter Terry Gilkyson (1916). Prolific bassist Chuck Rainey was turning 84; guitarist and producer Chris Spedding 80. Jello Biafra is 66; and Greg Rolle of Santana is 77. 

Closed with new music from two different Campbells — Isobel and Mike — as well as newly released work from the Decemberists, Paul Weller, John Cale and Wings.
