Forever the squirrelly SpongeBob SquarePants sidekick, Sandy Cheeks finally gets her own spotlight in “Saving Bikini Bottom: The Sandy Cheeks Movie” (Netflix, streaming), done in a sleek CGI manner unlike the cartoon drawings of the regular show. But it’s the same creators and voices — Carolyn Lawrence as Sandy, who takes the gang to meet her squirrel relatives in Texas; and Tom Kenny as the venerable sponge. Wanda  Sykes appears among the live action cast as the scientist who threatens their underwater home. 

Zach Snyder’s director’s cuts of last year’s “Rebel Moon – Part One: A Child of Fire” and this year’s “Rebel Moon – Part Two: The Scargiver” are given more sex and violence as the space sagas are renamed “Rebel Moon: Chapter One: Chalice of Blood” (Netflix, streaming) and  “Rebel Moon Chapter Two: Curse of Forgiveness” (Netflix, streaming).

“Cowboy Cartel” (Apple TV+, streaming) is a new four-part documentary follows the efforts of the FBI to crack a Mexican cartel that laundered its money through the American Quarter Horse racing industry. 

The final episodes drop for “Too Hot to Handle” (Netflix, streaming) and it’s pretty slow going before João sings a song everyone hates and the remaining half of the prize money is distributed. 

Track and field coverage begins on “Primetime in Paris: The Olympics” (NBC, 8 p.m.), where there will be medal events in men’s synchronized swimming, the women’s 200-meter backstroke and the men’s 50-meter freestyle, as well as qualifications for sprinters in the women’s 100-meter semifinals. 

One new Olympic sport this year is breaking — that’s right, break dancing. Get an introduction at “The 2024 Silverback Breaking Invitational (ESPN, 10 p.m.).

The documentary series “Down in the Valley” (Starz, 9 p.m.) that explores the corners of the Deep South nightlife, comes to an end. 

“Totally Funny Animals” (CW, 9 p.m.) is chased by “Totally Funny Kids” (CW, 9:30 p.m.). 

They try a new site called the plateau on “Hoffman Family Gold” (Discovery, 9 p.m.). 

“Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives” (Food, 9 p.m.) finds an Argentine spot in Indianapolis. 

Aliens may not have taken over the planet but they sure have taken over the History Channel, with three hours of “Ancient Aliens: Declassified” (History, 8 p.m.). 

“The Serpent Queen” (Starz, 8 p.m.) sees a rebellion on the rise.
