It will be hard to beat the opening ceremonies but the Paris 2024 Olympics Closing Ceremony (NBC, 3 p.m.)  is expected to have performances from Billie Ellis, the Red Hot Chili Peppers, H.E.R. and the French bands Air and Phoenix. 

The official announcement says the event will feature more than 100 “performers, acrobats, dancers and circus artists” — who may well create tableaus that will rattle ill-informed right wingers as much as the opening ceremony.

Handing off the next games to Los Angeles will likely mean an influx of Hollywood stars, including some who have already been hanging around Paris, including Tom Cruise, Ariana Grande, Greta Gerwig and of course Snoop Dogg and Flavor Flav. Like the opening ceremony, it will be repeated in full in primetime at 7. 

“Industry” (HBO, 9 p.m.) begins its third season with a new addition to the cast, Kit Harington of “Game of Thrones.”

The new four-episode documentary series “Hollywood Black” (MBM+, 10 p.m.) surveys the work of Black filmmakers, starting with the silent era. 

“SEAL Team” (Paramount+, streaming), whose last new episode came in November 2022,  returns for its seventh and final season — on a streaming service, where it’s been running since the middle of its fifth season.

Ron Howard’s documentary about the puppeteer, animator, actor and filmmaker, “Jim Henson: Idea Man” (ABC, 8:30 p.m.) gets a broadcast premiere.

“Big Brother” (CBS, 9 p.m.) chooses a new head of household, after a frenzied week. 

The history of New York City’s five Mafia families is told in the new six-hour documentary series “American Godfathers: The Five Families” (History, 8 p.m.), narrated by Michael Imperioli, who is also executive producer. 

It’s followed by another new series “Gangland Chronicles” (History, 10:05 p.m.), looking at related crime organizations. 

“The Turning Point: To Be Destroyed” (MSNBC, 9 p.m.) follows author Dave Eggers travels to Rapid City, S.D., where activists have moved to destroy books. 

Kira meets with a conflicted ally on “Orphan Black: Echoes” (AMC, BBC America, 10 p.m.). 

Layton and Josie prepare to jump onto the moving “Snowpiercer” (AMC, 9 p.m.) train in order to get Layton’s baby back. 

“Mysteries of the Deep” (Travel, 8 p.m.) finds a new undersea discovery. 

The 2022 bomb cyclone of Buffalo is recalled on “In the Eye of the Storm” (Discovery, 10:05 p.m.). 

On “Blue Ridge: The Series” (INSP, 9 p.m.), a wrestling promoter is found murdered under the ring. 

George threatens to withdraw money from “Hotel Portofino” (PBS, 8 p.m., check local listings). 

“The Real Housewives of New Jersey” (Bravo, 7:30 p.m.) reconvene to watch the finale. 

Donie O’Sullivan continues his fine work in uncovering misinformation sources on “The Whole Story with Anderson Cooper” (CNN, 8 p.m.).

“Carnival Eats” (Cooking, 9 p.m.) tries medieval dishes at a renaissance fair.

Rivals work together to get a survival item on “Naked and Afraid: Last One Standing” (Discovery, 8 p.m.). 

“The Great Food Truck Race” (Food, 8 p.m.) goes to Panama City. 

A journalist wonders if the death of Talcott’s father was foul play on “Emperor of Ocean Park” (MGM, 9 p.m.). 

“Secrets of the Zoo: Down Under” (Nat Geo Wild, 9 p.m.) welcomes a new sea lion.

Lensa storms out of church on “Forbidden Love” (10 p.m.). 

“Mr. Throwback” (USA, 9:35 p.m.), the new Steph Curry comedy on Hulu, gets a cable showcase.
