Amber Ruffin and Michael Ian Black are team captains on the new “Have I Got News for You” (CNN, 9 p.m.), an American version of the long-running UK comedy series. Hosted by Roy Wood Jr., there will be panels and contests between Ruffin and Black and two guests regarding the week’s news. Luckily, the debate provided a lot of material. If follows the network’s recently installed day-after replay of HBO’s Friday “Real Time with Bill Maher” (CNN, 8 p.m.).

Before Sunday’s main event, the 76th Primetime Creative Arts Emmy Awards (FXX, 8 p.m.), held last weekend, is edited down to one evening’s event, where they honor things like cinematography, art direction, reality shows, animation, casting, directing, music, sound and stunts. “Shōgun,” “The Bear” and “Only Murders in the Building” are among the shows with the most nominations. 

Another live event that occurred last weekend gets a televised debut, as the prime time stars of MSNBC, including Rachel Maddow, Chris Hayes, Joy Reid and Jen Psaki, take the stage before an audience in Brooklyn to discuss election issues on the special “MSNBC: Live: Democracy 2024” (MSNBC, 8 p.m.). 

College football again dominates primetime with Ole Miss at Wake Forest (CW, 6:30 p.m.), Georgia at Kentucky (ABC, 7:30 p.m.), Indiana at UCLA (NBC, 7:30 p.m.) and UCF at TCU (Fox, 7:30 p.m.). The rest of the day’s schedule is below. 

“Civil War” (HBO, 8 p.m.) makes its premium cable debut. 

On the first of two episodes of “Welcome to Plathville” (TLC, 8 p.m.), Ethan and Micah help hold a surprise birthday party for Lydia; at 9, Olivia and Lydia host a sex-ed party. 

“Ghost Adventures” (Travel, 10 p.m.) invades an author’s childhood home. 

Turner Classic Movies has a double play of Jimmy Stewart westerns, with “Bend of the River” (8 p.m.) and “Winchester ’73” (10 p.m.). The 12 o’clock noir is “A Lady Without Passport” (midnight). Then comes a pair of films about poker, “The Cincinnati Kid” (1;30 a.m.) and “A Big Hand for the Little Lady” (3:30 a.m.). The midday musical is “Roller Boogie” (noon). 

College football starts at noon with games that include Alabama at Wisconsin (Fox), LSU at South Carolina (ABC), Oklahoma State at Tulsa (ESPN2), Central Michigan at Illinois (Peacock), Memphis at Florida State (ESPN), Cincinnati at Miami (ESPNU) and North Texas at Texas Tech (Fox Sports 1). 

After Massachusetts at Buffalo (CBS Sports, 1 p.m.), games at 3:30 p.m. include Oregon at Oregon State (Fox), Tulane at Oklahoma (ESPN), Notre Dame at Purdue (CBS), Texas A&M at Florida (ABC), Washington State at Washington (Peacock) and West Virginia at Pittsburgh (ESPN2).

Then comes Appalachian State at East Carolina (ESPNU, 4 p.m.), Utah at Utah State (CBS Sports, 4:30 p.m.), UTSA at Texas (ESPN, 7 p.m.), Kennesaw State at San Jose State (truTV, 7 p.m.), New Mexico at Auburn (ESPN2, 7:30 p.m.), Air Force at Baylor (Fox Sports 1, 7:30 p.m.), BYU at Wyoming (CBS Sports, 9 p.m.), San Diego State at California (ESPN, 10:30 p.m.) and New Mexico State at Fresno State (truTV, 10:30 p.m.). 

There is second round play in the 2024 Solheim Cup (Golf, 7 a.m.; NBC, 9 a.m.). 

St. Vincent plays a rerun of “Austin City Limits” (PBS, 11 p.m., check local listings). 

The Kristen Wiig-hosted “Saturday Night Live” (NBC, 11:30 p.m.) from April, with musical guest Raye, is rerun. The season premiere comes in two weeks.
