The new “Murder in a Small Town” (Fox, 8 p.m.) may be the most Canadian show ever. The gentle cop show based on the novels by Canadian writer L.R. Wright, starring Donald Sutherland’s other son Rossif Sutherland as a police chief, opposite Kristin Kreuk, a local librarian, in the picturesque seaside British Columbia town of Gibsons. The most intensity in a too-long debut (90 minutes) comes from its guest star James Cromwell. 

It’s followed by a “The 2024 Fox Fall Preview” (Fox, 9:30 p.m.) hosted by Ken Jeong and Joel McHale. 

The comedian presents what she says will be her final standup special in “Ellen DeGeneres: For Your Approval” (Netflix, streaming).

Every presidential election year, “Frontline” (PBS, 9 p.m., check local listings) does a reliably solid report comparing the major candidates. Tonight, they’ll tell the story of Kamala Harris vs. Donald Trump. 

“America’s Got Talent” (Fox, 9 p.m.) determines a winner in the season 19 finale. Yet most of the finalists are not from America. There’s an “air-dance” group from Japan, another dance group from Australia, an acrobatic group in Tanzania, a dog act from Israel, an aerial duo from Spain and a quick-change artist from Portugal. Guest stars for the finale include Andra Day, Gabriel Iglesias, Steve Aoki, Journey, Michael Bible and Simone Biles. A review of the season at 8 makes it a three hour night. 

On the new culinary competition “Last Bite Hotel” (Food, 9 p.m.), chefs given just 13 ingredients each cook for VIP guests and a chance to win $25,000. Tituss Burgess hosts. 

“Dancing with the Stars” (ABC, 8 p.m.) has its Hollywood night and a double elimination. Eric Roberts got the lowest score last week. 

Morgan adjusts to her new role as police consultant on “High Potential” (ABC, 10 p.m.).

“Windy City Rehab” (HGTV, 8 p.m.) returns for a new season in Chicago. 

Zach Braff gives a pal a renovation on “Celebrity IOU” (HGTV, 9 p.m.). 

“My Big Fat Fabulous Life” (Fox, 9:30 p.m.) reaches its season finale with a couple of episodes as Whitney finally gets to Spain for her 40th birthday.

A replacement is sought for Calvin Jar’s date to the mother-son dance on “Tyler Perry’s House of Payne” (BET, 9 p.m.). 

“Comic View” (BET, 10 p.m.) features Navv Greene, Bresha Webb and Tommy Davidson, among others. 

Mr. Brown records his own gospel rap on “Tyler Perry’s Assisted Living” (BET, 9:30 p.m.).

“Deadly Waters with Captain Lee” (Bravo, 8 p.m.), a Peacock true crime series, migrates its way to cable. 

 Speaking of true crime “American Sports Story: Aaron Hernandez” (FX, 10 p.m.) continues.

“Sin City Tow” (Discovery, 9 p.m.) has a big night with a two hour episode. 

Sig is blown off course on “Deadliest Catch” (Discovery, 8 p.m.).

On “Welcome to Plathville” (TLC, 10 p.m.), Olivia brings Lydia Grace and Brendan together. 

The more they show “Scare Tactics” (USA, 10:08 p.m.), the less they can say it’s a sneak peek. 

Turner Classic Movies marks Hispanic Heritage Month with a night of Mexican-American films with “The Milgro Beanfield War” (8 p.m.), “Zoot Suit” (10:15 p.m.), “Salt of the Earth” (12:15 a.m.), “Boulevard Nights” (2 a.m.) and “Cisco Kid” (4 a.m.).

During the day TCM has stories of family secrets with “Kiss Her Goodbye” (6:16 a.m.), “This Man is Mine” (8 a.m.), “Cry Wolf” (9:30 a.m.), “The Red House” (11 a.m.), “Fog Over Frisco” (1 p.m.), “The Seventh Victim” (3:45 p.m.), “A Stolen Life” (3:45 p.m.) and “Dead Ringer” (5:45 p.m.). 

Baseball includes Baltimore at Yankees (TBS, 7:05 p.m.) and San Diego at Dodgers (TBS, 10:10 p.m.). 

WNBA playoffs have Atlanta at New York (ESPN, 7:30 p.m.) and Seattle at Las Vegas (ESPN, 9:30 p.m.).
