Sophie Turner of “Game of Thrones” fame glams up to portray 1980s British jewel thief Joan Hannington who began life as a homemaker, in the new series “Joan” (CW, 9 p.m.). The six-episode limited series is from the UK’s ITV. Frank Dillane of “Fear the Walking Dead” also stars.
The seventh season of “Love is Blind” (Netflix, streaming) hits close to home — that is to say, the Washington, D.C. region. That means a couple of the suitors talk about politics a teensy more than they would in the past. What’s odd this season are people who fall in love with the idea of coupling but can’t quite see the person they pick, even when they get out of the pods. Still, these people are (mostly) ready to fall — at least the ones they focus on. The first six episodes speed through to proposals tonight; two new episodes on each of the next two episodes; the finale is Oct. 23.
Also back for its seventh season is “Chef’s Table” (Netflix, streaming), this time concentrating on noodles and what chefs around the world have done with them.
“Unsolved Mysteries” (Netflix, streaming) brings its fifth season with four episodes.
The Canadian series about a neurosurgeon returning to her small town roots, “Sullivan’s Crossing” (CW, 8 p.m.) returns for its second season. It stars Morgan Kohan, Scott Patterson and Chad Michael Murray.
“Secrets of the Dead” (PBS, 10 p.m.), check local listings) returns for a new season looking for Assyrian artifacts that survived the Isis occupation of Mosul.
“The Golden Bachelorette” (ABC, 8 p.m.) takes her guys to Vegas.
Another off-camp excursion involves climbing to earn a reward on “Survivor” (CBS, 8 p.m.).
“The Masked Singer” (Fox, 8 p.m.) marks the 40th anniversary of the movie “Footloose.”
There are layoffs on “Chicago Med” (NBC, 8 p.m.); an order is disobeyed on “Chicago Fire” (NBC, 9 p.m.); and a tragedy strikes the intelligence unit on “Chicago P.D.” (NBC, 10 p.m.).
“Big Cats 24/7” (PBS, 8 p.m., check local listings) is affected by floods, too.
Extreme weather conditions on other planets are explored on “Nova” (PBS, 9 p.m., check local listings).
The space series “The Ark” (Syfy, 10 p.m.) ends its second season with the crew arriving somewhere that might be just too good to be true.
“Forged in Fire” (History, 9 p.m.) continues its 10th season with a two-hour episode.
On the new series “Destinations of the Damned with Zak Bagans” (Discovery, 11 p.m.) the self-styled paranormal investigators travels to parts of the world after mysterious stories. He begins at the Colombian site of a volcano in 1985.
“Wild West Chronicles” (INSP, 10 p.m.) tells the story of Wong Fee Lee, would be miner in Deadwood, S.D.
A fight over fake fashion is discussed on “Ms. Pat Settles It” (BET, 10 p.m.).
On “Grotesquerie” (FX, 10 p.m.), Lois finds comfort in an unexpected person.
It’s fitting that Bela Legosi is star this October on Turner Classic Movies. A month-long Wednesday night showcase has him mostly in the cape in “Dracula” (8 p.m.), “Murders in the Rue Morgue” (9:30 p.m.), “Island of Lost Souls” (11 p.m.), “The Black Cat” (12:15 a.m.), “The Wolf Man” (1:30 a.m.), followed by more 1930s horror with “The Devil-Doll” (3 a.m.) and “The Walking Dead” (4:30 a.m.).
