In the lull before this year’s World Series starts, here’s a story about a big series 20 years ago in the series “The Comeback: 2004 Boston Red Sox” (Netflix, streaming).

From France comes a new film about a family who are sent back in time to a medieval village through a mysterious card game. Werewolves are involved too in “Family Pack” (Netflix, streaming), starring Jean Reno and Suzanne Clement. 

On a night originally reserved for what would have been their second presidential debate, somebody chickened out, so it’s just a CNN Presidential Town Hall: Kamala Harris (CNN, 9 p.m.) from Delaware County, Pennsylvania, with real questions by real people, moderated by Anderson Cooper.

An eighth season starts for the auto restoration team on “Carmasters: Rust to Riches” (Netflix, streaming).

“Survivor” (CBS, 8 p.m.) reaches the merge. 

It’s hometown visit night on “The Golden Bachelorette” (ABC, 8 p.m.). I imagine one good thing is not all the suitor’s parents will be around to meet Joan. 

“The Masked Singer” (Fox, 8 p.m.) has Barbie night, 18 months late, with Ken Jeong singing “I’m Just Ken.” Actually, it’s because of the 65th anniversary of the doll. Unmasked last week: Andy Richter. 

Things heat up for Maggie and Cal on “Sullivan’s Crossing” (CW, 8 p.m.).

“Chicago Med” (NBC, 8 p.m.) has a busy Halloween; “Chicago Fire” (NBC, 9 p.m.) investigates a trucking company in connection with a series of accidents; and “Chicago P.D.” (NBC, 10 p.m.) operates amid a big rainstorm. 

“Secrets of the Dead” (PBS, 10 p.m., check local listings) looks at the massacre of Black soldiers at Kentucky’s Camp Nelson.

Janine gets a budget for class pets on “Abbott Elementary” (ABC, 9:30 p.m.). 

“Wild West Chronicles” (INSP, 10 p.m.) tells the tale of El Bandito Vasquez. 

There’s a weather delay on “The Summit” (CBS, 9:30 p.m.) and possibly also a delay in viewer interest.

“Nature” (PBS, 8 p.m., check local listings) embeds a cinematographer with a wild gorilla troop in the Congo.

There’s a disco-themed Battle Royale on “House of Villains” (Bravo, 10 p.m.).

“Nova” (PBS, 9 p.m., check local listings) checks out the icy worlds of Uranus and Pluto.

A thunderbird may be terrorizing Pennsylvania on “Lost Monster Files” (Discovery, 10 p.m.).

“The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City” (Bravo, 9 p.m.) celebrate Angie’s 25th anniversary with a mafia-themed party. 

Bacon is sizzling on “Guy’s Grocery Games” (Food, 9 p.m.). 

“Expedition Unknown” (Discovery, 9 p.m.) looks for a crashed plane off the coast of Puerto Rico. 

Lois gets the help of a specialist on “Grotesquerie” (FX, 10 p.m.).

The month-long salute to Bela Lugosi on Turner Classic Movies concludes with “The Corpse Vanishes” (8 p.m.), “Bowery at Midnight” (9:30 p.m.), “The Saint’s Double Trouble” (10:45 p.m.), “Broadminded” (midnight), “Genius at Work” (1:30 a.m.), “Ninotchka” (2:45 a.m.) and “50 Million Frenchman” (4:45 a.m.). 

During the day are movies that take place on the water, “Riverboat Rhythm” (6:30 a.m.), “Fast Life” (7:45 a.m.), “Sons of the Sea” (9:15 a.m.), “Tugboat Annie” (11 a.m.), “Barnacle Bill” (12:30 p.m.), “Navy Blues” (2:15 p.m.), “Between Two Worlds” (4:15 p.m.) and “Luxury Liner” (6:15 p.m.). 

The new NBA season is unfolding with games that include Milwaukee at Philadelphia (ESPN, 7:30 p.m.) and Phoenix at Clippers (ESPN, 10 p.m.).
