How to add onto the “Dune” legacy? Turn the clock back 10,000 years before Frank Herbert’s first book to create a tale of the female factions fighting for power and spice. In “Dune: Prophecy” (HBO, 9 p.m.), Emily Watson and Olivia Williams play the sisters who would establish the Bene Gesserit sect. Tavis Fimmel and Mark Strong also star in a series that is likely to “Dune” the way “House of the Dragon” is to “Game of Thrones.” 

Billy Bob Thornton, Jon Hamm and Demi Moore star in Taylor Sheridan’s latest series, “Landman” (Paramount, 9 p.m.) centered on gold diggers of the present day. It runs alongside Sheridan’s other hit, “Yellowstone” (Paramount, 8 p.m.), on the main network but also sister network CMT.   

Sunday Night Football has Cincinnati at Chargers (NBC, 8:20 p.m.). Earlier games include Baltimore at Pittsburgh (CBS, 1 p.m.), Green Bay at Chicago (Fox, 1 p.m.) and Kansas City at Buffalo (CBS, 4:25 p.m.).

Another three new original Christmas romances premiere tonight, “A Very English Christmas” (UPtv, 7 p.m.), starring Kimberly Nixon;  “Confessions of a Christmas Letter” (Hallmark, 8 p.m.) with Angela Kinsey; and “Holiday in Happy Hollow” (Lifetime, 8 p.m.) with Tamara Almeida.

The 12 o’clock silent movies has two from Ernst Lubitsch, “Three Women” (midnight) and “The Doll” (1:15 a.m.), followed by two from Finnish director Aki Kaurismäki, “The Other Side of Hope” (2:30 a.m.) and “The Match Factory Girl” (4:15 a.m.).

The WNBA holds its Draft Lottery (ESPN, 5 p.m.).

The Barcelona Grand Prix (truTV, 7:30 a.m.) is run this morning.
