The unusual group honored for the 2024 Kennedy Center Honors (CBS, 8 p.m.) include Bonnie Raitt, Arturo Sandoval, Francis Ford Coppola, The Grateful Dead and, for the first time, a place, the Apollo Theatre. Queen Latifah hosts the event, taped two weeks ago in Washington.
Among the groupings honoring Raitt in song will be Sheryl Crow with Brandi Carlile, Emmylou Harris with Dave Matthews, Keb’ Mo’ with Susan Tedeschi and Jackson Brown with James Taylor.
Matthews returns to helm a big salute to the Dead, also featuring Derek Trucks, Leon Bridges, Maggie Rodgers, Sturgill Simpson, Don Was and Tedeschi. David Letterman and Chloe Sevigny are on hand to help induct the band.
Chucho Valdez, Chris Botti and Trombone Shorty are among those honoring Sandoval; Coppola gets a raft of stars from Robert De Niro to Al Pacino, and directors from George Lucas to Martin Scorsese to pay tribute.
And to honor the Apollo are Dave Chappelle with performances from Savion Glover, Doug E. Fresh, Raye and The War and Treaty. The President and Vice President will also attend the event, which will likely be ignored by the incoming White House inhabitant, as he did in his first term.
“Dune: Prophecy” (HBO, 9 p.m.) already ends its first season with its fifth episode. A second season has been ordered.
Sunday Night Football has Tampa Bay at Dallas (NBC, 8:15 p.m.). Earlier games include Philadelphia at Washington (1 p.m.), Cleveland at Cincinnati (CBS, 1 p.m.) and New England at Buffalo (CBS, 4:25 p.m.).

“Small Town Christmas” (UPtv, 9 p.m.), a series stopping in small bergs to see how they celebrate, is back for a new season, visiting Oxford, Miss., and Bryson City. N.C. Megan Alexander hosts.
Harry sends Owen to hunt for clues to Minsk on “The Agency” (Showtime, 9 p.m.).
“Dexter: Original Sin” (Showtime, 10 p.m.) gleaned 2.1 million global viewers in last week’s premiere, making it Showtime’s most streamed premiere ever.
The family fishing boat goes missing on “The Great North” (Fox, 9 p.m.).
“North by North Pole: A Dial S Mystery” (UPtv, 7 p.m.) is a movie about Santa helping a couple solve a mystery and find romance. Abby Ross and Joe Scarpellino star.
Other holiday movies? Sara Canning and Marcus Rosner star as strangers pretending to date in order to win back their exes in “Coupled Up for Christmas” (Great American Family, 8 p.m.); a woman seeks help from an advice columnist in “Engaged by Christmas” (Lifetime, 8 p.m.) and there’s a version of “Three Wiser Men and a boy: Extended Cut” (Hallmark, 8 p.m.) that’s a half hour longer.
Getting prime time broadcast slot is the 30 year old “The Santa Clause” (ABC, 8 p.m.), opposite the 2013 “Tyler Perry’s A Made Christmas” (CW, 7 p.m.).
“The Real Housewives of Potomac” (Bravo, 8 p.m.) head to Panama.
The Cowboy Carter photoshoot continues on “Married to Medicine” (Bravo, 9 p.m.).
“Holiday Wars” (Food, 9 p.m.) pits pets against Christmas trees in the final challenge, and a winner is named.
A pilot flies food to a homesteader on the first of two episodes of “Ice Airport Meltdown” (Smithsonian, 8 p.m.).
The Turner Classic Movies Christmas marathon continues with “Boys Town” (6 a.m.), “Our Vines Have Tender Grapes” (8 a.m.), “Lady in the Lake” (10 a.m.), “3 Godfathers” (noon), “The Holly and the Ivy” (2 p.m.), “Going My Way” (3:30 p.m.), “The Bells of St. Mary’s” (5:45 p.m.), “Christmas in Connecticut” (8 p.m.) and “Remember the Night” (10 p.m.).
