The latest variant in the Sherlock Holmes legend is the new series “Watson” (CBS, 10 p.m.), with Morris Chestnut taking the role of the detective’s doctor sidekick. Set in modern day Pittsburgh, he looks into the kind of medical mysteries that Dr. House used to investigate, rather than murders. The specter of Holmes, missing and presumed dead, lingers. 

The start time for “Watson” is variable — it will come after one of the day’s big events, the AFC conference championship of Buffalo at Kansas City (CBS, 6:30 p.m.). Earlier, it’s Washington at Philadelphia (Fox, 3 p.m.) in the NFC conference final. Winners of each game advance to the Super Bowl in two weeks.

The new series “Extreme Airport Africa” (Smithsonian 9 p.m.) is a variation of “Extreme Airport Alaska” with its own distinctions. Two lions need a lift in the premiere episode, for example. 

“Vienna Blood” (PBS, 10 p.m., check local listings) ends its season with Oskar lured to an assassination attempt that could trigger war. 

The first season of the spy thriller “The Agency” (Showtime, 9 p.m.) with Michael Fassbender concludes, with a second one on its way. 

“The Whole Story with Anderson Cooper” (CNN, 8 p.m.) follows the trail from China for the pair of new inhabitants of the panda house at Washington’s National Zoo, who met the public for the first time this weekend. 

It’s Jimmy’s christening day on “All Creatures Great and Small” (PBS, 9 p.m.). 

“Air Disasters” (Smithsonian, 8 p.m.) looks at three cases of crashes caused by deteriorating parts. 

Any boost to “America’s Funniest Home Video” (ABC, 8 p.m.) caused by TikTok going dark only lasted one week. 

“Miss Scarlet” (PBS, 8 p.m., check local listings) is caught between Fleet Street and Scotland Yard. 

Drs. Jackie, Heavenly and Simone travel to the White House to meet Kamala Harris for a conference on women’s health on “Married to Medicine” (Bravo, 9 p.m.).

“The Real Housewives of Potomac” (Bravo, 8 p.m.) still have the capacity to get in a huff over party invitations. 

Sniffing pooches look for mobile phones and guns on “Dog Detectives” (Animal Planet, 9 p.m.). 

“Match, Meet, Murder” (Lifetime, 8 p.m.) is the title of a made-for-TV thriller about how dating apps can go bad. 

Elizabeth helps Allie plan a birthday dance on “When Calls the Heart” (Hallmark, 9 p.m.). 

The “Worst Cooks in America” (Food, 8 p.m.) have to make hero sandwiches.
