Jon Hamm is back in his “Mad Man” form, as a high powered hedge fund manager. Except this time around, he takes a fall after a divorce and firing. To save face around his rich friends, he starts to pilfer from them. The darker than expected “Your Friends & Neighbors” (AppleTV+, streaming) from Jonathan Tropper, who was previously behind the movie “This is Where I Leave You.” The cast here includes such welcome faces as Amanda Peet and Olivia Munn. And its soundtrack is pretty nice.
Taking a cue from her father Ron Howard, the actress Bryce Dallas Howard takes up the directing on a documentary meant to mark National Pet Day. “Pets” (Disney+, streaming) looks at the relationship between people and their animal companions.
The well regarded, real-time ER drama “The Pitt” (Max, streaming) ends its grueling shift with a first season finale. Season two is expected in January 2026.
James Cameron’s 1989 film gets a better late than never remastered 4K version of a film now called “The Abyss 4K” (Disney+, streaming). Ed Harris and Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio star.
