An A-list comedy cast gathered last month in Washington to salute the lanky red-haired former talk show host for “Conan O’Brien: The Kennedy Center Mark Twain Award Prize for American Humor” (Netflix, streaming), an event that has moved from public television to streaming — and not just because there’s no bleeping.
David Letterman, Nikki Glaser, Will Ferrell, Stephen Colbert, Bill Burr, Kumail Nanjiani, Tracy Morgan, Adam Sandler, Sarah Silverman and his old sidekick Andy Richter and Triumph the Insult Comedy Dog join in on the fun, maybe the last fun scheduled at the Kennedy Center since the new administration.
Speaking of comedy, here’s the 55-minutr series finale of Danny McBride’s “The Righteous Gemstones” (HBO, 10 p.m.), which has been pretty consistent source of brash, outlandish laughs over four seasons depicting a spectacularly dysfunctional megachurch family.
May the Fourth is with us, so here’s some specials tied to the enduring space franchise, from the conglomerate that bought the rights. “Star Wars: Tales of the Underworld” (Disney+, streaming) follows the tradition of “Tales of the Jedi” and “Tales of The Empire” in being an animated anthology series about the criminal underworld, in this case, bounty hunter Asajj Ventress, and outlaw Cad Bane.
Meanwhile, two specials under the heading “Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge and the Rise of the Resistance Resort” (Disney+, streaming) are strictly theme-park promos.
The new four-part series “Miss Austen” (PBS, 9 p.m., check local listings) is not about Jane, but about her sister Cassandra, known primarily for burning most of Jane Austen’s personal letters. Keeley Hawes stars as the mysterious figure, Rose Leslie, Patsy Ferran and Synnøve Carlsen co-star.
At a time when “The Last of Us” (HBO, 9 p.m.) devolves into a revenge saga, currently set in post apocalyptic Seattle, here’s the second season premiere of “The Walking Dead: Dead City” (AMC, 9 p.m.). The spinoff, set in Manhattan, stars Lauren Cohan and Jeffrey Dean Morgan in their long-running roles. The premiere also runs on BBC America, IFC and Sundance.
Snoop Dogg hosts “Time 100: The World’s Most Influential People” (ABC 10 p.m.), taped last month at New York’s Lincoln Center. Simone Biles is presented the impact award; Ed Sheeran and Myles Smith perform and the audience includes Blake Lively, Demi Moore, Serena Williams and Nicole Scherzinger.
Sunday must-see watching has lately included “60 Minutes” (CBS, 7 p.m.), which this weeks looks at the weaponizing of the Justice Department.
“The Rehearsal” (HBO, 10:55 p.m.) turns to animal experiments.
