There’s a two-hour profile of the Olympic great, the first Native American to win gold for the U.S., who went on to play basketball, football and baseball, in “Jim Thorpe: Lit by Lightning” (History, 8 p.m.).

The more entertaining of the franchise spinoffs, “Bachelor in Paradise” (ABC, 8 p.m.) begins a new season, this time in Costa Rica. Former Bachelorette Hannah Brown has been hired as bartender in the show’s new Champagne Lounge. Jesse Palmer returns to host. 

A fourth season begins for “The Madame Blanc Murders” (Acorn TV, streaming), created by and starring Sally Lindsay, set in the French countryside.

“Art Detectives” (Acorn TV, streaming), meanwhile, has the finale of its inaugural season.

Remaining “Lego Masters” (Fox, 8 p.m.) create masks for a costume party.

“Christmas at Sea” (Hallmark, 8 p.m.) is a four-episode commercial tie in for the first Hallmark Christmas Cruise (Get me off this thing!)

Qualifying rounds continue in Las Vegas on “American Ninja Warrior” (NBC, 8 p.m.).

“Survival Mode” (NBC, 10 p.m.) is a new series following real people facing dangerous situations. 

Kyle and Solene’s relationship takes a turn on “Below Deck” (Bravo, 8 p.m.).

“Mysteries of the Unknown” (Travel, 8 p.m.) looks at the legacy of Nostradamus.

Hangovers abound on “The Librarians: The Next Chapter” (TNT, 9 p.m.). 

Bakers on “Super Ninja Cakes” (Food, 9 p.m.) have to make cakes with some sort of floating element.   

A gender reveal party is approaching on “Paul American” (truTV, 9 p.m.). 

Turner Classic Movies has epic adventures “Lawrence of Arabia” (8 p.m.), “The Seven Samurai” (midnight) and “Yojimbo” (3:45 a.m.).  During the day are stories of divorced women in “Julia Misbehaves” (6:30 p.m.), “The Ex-Mrs. Bradford” (8:30 a.m.), “We Were Dancing” (10 a.m.), “Never Say Goodbye” (noon), “The Women” (2 p.m.), “Affectionately Yours” (4:15 p.m.), and “His Girl Friday” (6 p.m.). 

Baseball has Tampa Bay at Detroit (Fox Sports 1, 6:30 p.m.) and Philadelphia at San Francisco (MLB, 9:45 p.m.).
