The sharks are all gone, but we’re dead in the middle of hurricane season, so the five-part documentary series “Hurricane Katrina: Race Against Time” (National Geographic, 8 p.m.) about the devastating storm in Louisiana 20 years ago this summer is handled by a team, executive produced by Ryan Coogler of “Black Panther” and “Sinners” fame. The first three episodes play tonight; the concluding two on Monday.
Similarly, “In the Eye of the Storm” (Discovery, 10 p.m.), returning for its second season, looks at recent extreme weather disasters, from twisters in Iowa, flooding in Appalachia, to wildfires in Los Angeles.
Baseball has Seattle at Angels (Roku, 4 p.m.) and Mets at San Francisco (ESPN, 7 p.m.). Earlier, there’s the Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony (MLB, 1:30 p.m.) from Cooperstown, inducting CC Sabathia, Ichiro Suzuki and Billy Wagner.
And the Savannah Bananas (CW, 7 p.m.), a barnstorming team that includes dancing and flaming bats, take on the Texas Tailgaters in Philadelphia.
As if it’s not extreme enough on “Naked and Afraid,” they amp up the danger on the new spinoff “Naked and Afraid: Apocalypse” (Discovery, 8 p.m.)., in which a dozen survivalists are dropped into a South African ghost town without food, water or clothes and have to find a way to survive – and a way out (nobody’s going to extract them this time).
“Live Aid: When Rock ’n’ Roll Took on the World” (CNN, 9 p.m.) looks at the U.S. half of the two-continent concert.
Geordie intervenes in Alphy’s personal life on “Grantchester” (PBS, 9 p.m., check local listings).
“Nautilus” (AMC, 9 p.m.) gets a glimpse of what may be the lost underwater city of Atlantis.
Once a new head of household is determined, more houseguests are nominated for eviction on “Big Brother” (CBS, 8 p.m.).
A failing crypto tycoon plans something bad, well, specifically “Vicious Murder” (Lifetime, 8 p.m.) in a new made-for-TV thriller.
“Hazardous History with Henry Winkler” (History, 9 p.m.) looks at a line of dangerous household products.
Time for a final showdown on “BBQ Brawl” (Food, 9 p.m.).
“Leguizamo Does America” (MSNBC, 9 p.m.) visits the Latino community of New Orleans.
The women keep arriving on “Kings Court” (Bravo, 9 p.m.) and Tyrone gets carried away.
“The Real Housewives of Atlanta” (Bravo, 8 p.m.) wrap up their reunion and thus the 16th season.
The overly gullible overstate what they think they see on video on “Paranormal Caught on Camera” (Travel, 9 p.m.).
“How Did They Build That?” (Smithsonian, 9 p.m.) looks at the making of the International Space Station.
Marian is a little too suspicious on “The Gilded Age” (HBO, 9 p.m.).
“Yellowstone Wardens” (Animal Planet, 8 p.m.) go after illegal fishermen.
In New York, Dex is unexpectedly meeting a lot of like minded characters on “Dexter: Resurrection” (Showtime, 8 p.m.).
It’s a Gregory Peck double feature on Turner Classic Movies tonight with “Cape Fear” (8 p.m.) followed by “Gentleman’s Agreement” (10 p.m.). The silent film at midnight is the classic “The Hunchback of Notre Dame” (12:15 a.m.) with Lon Chaney, followed by a pair of Italian imports — Bertolucci’s “The Grim Reaper” (2:30 a.m.) and Pasolini’s “Teorema” (4:15 a.m.).
WNBA action includes Golden State at Connecticut (CBS Sports, 1 p.m.), Indiana at Chicago (ABC, 3 p.m.) and Atlanta at Minnesota (NBA, 7 p.m.).
