Yes, Elvis Costello turned 71; Jeff Tweedy was 58. So there were was big birthday tributes to both. We also had salutations for jazz man Wayne Shorter, Belle and Sebastian frontman Stuart Murdoch, turning 57; and had shoutouts for Shock G of Digital Underground and Terminator X from Public Enemy.
It was the 50th anniversary of Bruce Springsteen’s career-defining “Born to Run,” so Capital Radio played half of it.
And because it was Beach Week (alert Tobin and Squee!), songs about summer and the shoreline, from The Beach Boys and Sly, the Undertones and Faces. (Still, I can’t believe that on the date of 8/25/25 I neglected the opportunity o play “In the Year 2525”).
