The ever-quirky Sarah Sherman presents her full gross-out comedy act in the special “Sarah Squirm: Live + In the Flesh” (HBO, 9:25 p.m.), a stage show that’s a combination of GWAR and “Pee Wee’s Playhouse” in which she roasts the audience like Don Rickles with a blood hose. Whenever she accidentally makes a straight-up joke she cues “Seinfeld” musical sting as if to apologize.
It follows the premium cable premiere of “Spinal Tap II: The End Continues” (HBO, 8 p.m.) makes its premium cable debut.
Sherman may also be glimpsed, underused, in her regular job on a new “Saturday Night Live” (NBC, 11:30 p.m.) with host Josh O’Connor and musical guest Lily Allen. In last week’s repeat, that plays at 10 p.m., she did get to portray the drunk raccoon from the Virginia liquor store in a show with Melissa McCarthy and Dijon.
Just as gross may be “CBS News Presents: A Town Hall with Erika Kirk: Moderated by Bari Weiss” (CBS, 8 p.m.), in which the network once known for Edward R. Murrow and Walter Cronkite, but now under the control of David Ellison, son of billionaire Trump supporter Larry Ellison, pairs the widow of Charlie Kirk with the newly-installed editor in chief of CBS News, plucked from the proudly anti-woke website The Free Press.
Bowl games begin with South Carolina State vs. Prairie View A&M (ABC, noon) in the Cricket Celebration Bowl from Atlanta, Boise State vs. Washington (ABC, 8 p.m.) in the Bucked Up LA Bowl. The FCS quarterfinals have Villanova at Tarleton State (ESPN, noon) and South Dakota at Montana (ABC, 3:30 p.m.). There is also the annual Army at Navy (CBS, 3 p.m.).
As her “Eras” tour documentary streams on Disney_, here’s a two-hour bio film of Taylor Swift, “Taylor” (CW, 8 p.m.), that traces her rise from a young songwriter.
Of course there’s a handful of new Christmas romances premiering with “A Suite Holiday Romance” (Hallmark, 8 p.m.) with Jessy Schram and Dominic Sherwood meeting at New York’s Grand Fairbanks Hotel.
A hockey player meets a single mom and therapist at a Nashville ranch in “Thank God: Christmas at Keller Ranch” (Lifetime, 8 p.m.) with Tyler Hilton and Arielle Kebbel.
It’s a beauty shop owner and a detective working on a case of a missing host of a holiday mystery party in “Very Merry Mystery” (OWN, 9 p.m.), with Ashleigh Murray and Tristan Mack Wilds.
A ranch is also the site for “Rodeo Christmas Romance” (Lifetime, 10 p.m.) with Rebecca Dalton and Corey Sevier.
Things are less merry on another made-for-TV movie, “Abducted at an HBCU: A Black Girl Missing Movie” (Lifetime Movie Network, 8 p.m.).
The tracking collars have fallen off on “Jaguar Journals” (Nat Geo Wild, 10 p.m.).
“Charmed by the Devil” (Oxygen, 9 p.m.) is a film about a journalist’s 40-year quest to find the motives of a serial killer.
The case of a man who denies killing his wife but admitted to getting rid of the body is the subject of “The Brian Walshe Trial with Laura Coates” (CNN, 8 p.m.).
“Love and Marriage: Huntsville” (OWN, 8 p.m.) has a holiday-themed episode.
