The truth of what happened in Hiroshima and Nagasaki after the bombs dropped 80 years ago was obscured by government censorship, propaganda and co-opting of the press, according to the new documentary “Bombshell” on “American Experience” (PBS, 9 p.m., check local listings). 

“Will Trent” (ABC, 8 p.m.) begins its fourth season set at the Georgia Bureau of Investigation. 

Tariffs have affected “Moonshiners” (Discovery, 8 p.m.) to service Canadian distributors looking for tariff-free booze. A new season begins for the bootlegging outlaws.

The eighth season of “The Rookie” (ABC, 10 p.m.) begins with a case in Prague. 

The American adaptation of the British hit “Doc Martin,” “Best Medicine” (Fox, 8 p.m.), settles into its regular time slot (with the same debut episode they showed Sunday). It’s paired with a new episode from their other medical show “Doc” (Fox, 9 p.m.). 

A 12th season begins for the celebrity genealogy series “Finding Your Roots with Henry Louis Gates Jr.” (PBS, 8 p.m., check local listings), with America Ferrera and Darren Criss are first up. 

“High Potential” (ABC, 9 p.m.) continues the case of the missing Rembrandt. 

Chefs return to play cards and bet their own money on “Wildcard Kitchen” (Food, 9 p.m.). 

“1000-lb. Sisters” (TLC, 9 p.m.) return, having lost a little of the weight. 

Marcus gets to DJ a premiere party on “Vanderpump Rules” (Bravo, 9:15 p.m.). 

“The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City” (Bravo, 8 p.m.) spend their last day in Santorini. 

The regular season begins to wrap on “Hard Knocks: In Season with the NFC East” (HBO, 9 p.m.). 

Possibly a movie about the East Wing demolition: “White House Down” (BBC America, 8 p.m.). 

Turner Classic Movies begins a Tuesday night series featuring the working class, with “Norma Rae” (8 p.m.), “Silkwood” (10:15 p.m.), “Matewan” (12:45 a.m.), “North Country” (3 a.m.) and “Salt of the Earth”(5:30 a.m.).  

During the day TCM has films of people who have won the Presidential Medal of Freedom, with Tennessee Williams’ “Baby Doll” (7 a.m.), Frank Sinatra’s “A Face in the Crowd” (9 a.m.), James Cagney in “A Lion Is in the Streets” (11:15 a.m.), John Ford’s “Sergeant Rutledge” (12:45 p.m.), James Stewart in “The Mortal Storm” (2:45 p.m.), both Ronald Reagan and Doris Day in “Storm Warning” (4:30 p.m.) and Carole Lombard in “To Be or Not to Be” (6:15 p.m.).

NBA action has Miami at Minnesota (NBC, 8 p.m.) and Dallas at Sacramento (Peacock, 11 p.m.).
