The death of Grateful Dead co-founder Bob Weir Saturday at 78 led the show with some of his best known songs. (I wrote a separate piece about Weir on Substack you can find here). There was also a tribute to Andrew Bodnar, bassist for The Rumour, who died earlier this month at 71. 

There was a boatload of birthdays to note, from Chris Bell of Big Star to Maggie Bell of Stone the Crows, but also Mississippi Fred McDowell, Long John Baldry, NRBQ drummer Tom Ardolino, Cynthia Robinson of Sly and the Family Stone, George Duke, Ruth Brown, Tex Ritter, Glen Yarbrough and Ray Price, among others. 

The rest of the show struggled with the murder last week of Rachel Good by agents from ICE, starting with Jesse Welles’ “Good vs. ICE.” It went along from there.
