It’s been nearly four years since Will Smith swatted his once red hot career with the swiftness of a slap to Oscars host Chris Rock. He’s only been in one movie since — 2020’s “Bad Boys for Life.” And only now does hie emerge as a TV host in the new “Pole to Pole with Will Smith” (National Geographic, 9 p.m.). 

He spends the seven episodes going to some extreme corners of the planet on a 100-day trek. Maybe he considers it penance. First stop is the South Pole; then the Amazon at 10. 

Six outsiders are invited to Amish country near Lancaster, Penn., in hopes of helping repopulate the community in the new reality show “Suddenly Amish” (TLC, 10 p.m.), on which the newcomers are shaken by the simple life — and specifically, the lack of A.C.

The college drama “Tell Me Lies” (Hulu, streaming), returns for a third season of Grace Van Patten and Jackson White trying to figure out their relationship at Bard. They’d better figure it out soon; they’ll be graduating soon.

From Japan comes a second season of the reality dating show “The Boyfriend” (Netflix, streaming), set this time in snowy Hokkaido. 

Early this morning comes a new animated series for preschoolers, “Hey A.J.!” (Disney Jr., 7 a.m.), about the adventures of a young girl and her stuffed bunny. Based on a children’s book by Martellus Bennett, it’s from the people who brought you “Phineas and Ferb.”

“The Rookie” (ABC, 10 p.m.) prepares for a presidential visit to L.A. 

Townspeople are mad when a bean supper has to be cancelled in fear of a contagion on “Best Medicine” (Fox, 8 p.m.).

“Will Trent” (ABC, 8 p.m.) goes missing after an attack. 

Wiz Khalifa and Sanaa Lathan learn about their ancestors on “Finding Your Roots with Henry Louis Gates Jr.” (PBS, 8 p.m.). 

“Doc” (Fox, 9 p.m.) helps treats a s man whose daughter thinks he’s been poisoned. 

The death of a hitman in a car crash is investigated on “High Potential” (ABC, 9 p.m.). 

“Harlan Coben’s Final Twist” (CBS, 8 p.m.) concerns the stabbing death of a businesswoman. 

Returning for its fourth season is the true crime reality series “Booked: First Day In” (A&E, 10 p.m.). 

“Warren Buffett: A Life and Legacy” (CNBC, 7 p.m.) profiles the Oracle from Omaha in a series of interviews. 

A photoshoot goes downhill on “Vanderpump Rules” (Bravo, 9 p.m.). 

“Moonshiners” (Discovery, 8 p.m.) brings corn liquor back to market. 

Deadly discoveries are the theme of the season finale of “Mysteries Unearthed with Danny Trejo” (History, 10 p.m.). 

“Hard Knocks: In Season With the NFC East” (HBO, 9 p.m.) wraps up the regular season. 

Turner Classic Movies’ month-long Tuesday-night series on the working class continues with comedies this week with “Nine to Five” (8 p.m.), “The Full Monty” (10 p.m.), “Take This Job and Shove It” (11:45 p.m.), “The Commitments” (1:45 a.m.) and “Modern Times” (4:15 a.m.).
