Some executives high concept holiday plan might actually work out. Nobody’s been crying for a remake of the Julie Andrews original, or for seeing “American Idol” country queen in the lead role, but here she is for one time only on a special called “The Sound of Music Live!” (NBC, 8 p.m.), which stretches on for three hours.
Oh, it might be fun. The cast includes Stephen Moyer of “True Blood” as Captain Von Trapp and a real singer, Audra McDonald, as the Mother Abbess. And the whole sound stage could collapse. Twitterers will be at the ready to catch it all.
in lieu of the Veterans Administration, a group of comedians are enlisted to help wounded soldiers hone their standup comedy skills, though I suppose some of them may just ned help standing up. The resulting documentary “Comedy Warriors” (Showtime, 8 p.m.) may be redeemed by the participation of Lewis Black, Zach Galifianakis and B.J. Novak.
The magazine with a new networks turns another one of its best features into a series that sounds like it’s worth watching. “Best Bars in America” (Esquire, 9 p.m.) doesn’t feature some know it all coming in to change some watering hole. Instead it celebrates that are already doing it well.
Chris Matthews interviews President Obama live at American University on “Crossfire” (MSNBC, 7 p.m.).
She may have never gotten marriage out of her stint on “Most Eligible Dallas,” but Courtney Kerr may have gotten something better, if her goal is reality show stardom. It’s her own spin-off series, “Courtney Loves Dallas” (Bravo, 10 p.m.).
“The Millionaire Matchmaker” (Bravo, 9 p.m.) returns for its 7th season, with Patti Stanger bringing in a load of more photogenic assistants.

The fight against prejudice is on Turner Classic Movies tonight with “The Defiant Ones” (8 p.m.), “A Raisin in the Sun” (9:45 p.m.), “In the Heat of the Night” (midnight), “Glory” (2 a.m.) and “Intruder in the Dust” (4:15 a.m.).
