BJ-Russia-RedSquare_1It seems a little late for a film on Billy Joel’s 1987 tour of Russia, a time when he was still married to Christie Brinkley and Alexa Ray was just a child. He may have broken ground in his time with the concert, but a number of other rock acts have since visited — and made their own films. But in the wake of his recent Kennedy Center honors, here’s the delayed premiere of Jim Brown’s film “Billy Joel: A Matter of Trust/The Brudge to Russia” (Showtime, 9 and 10:30 p.m.).

Comics legend Stan lee, who came up with everything from the Fantastic Four to The X-men, introduces his latest team with super powers on a stylish cartoon, “Stan Lee’s Mighty 7” (Hub, 8 p.m.). Lee appears as himself and doesn’t look bad for 91. Among those providing voices include Armie Hammer, Teri Hatcher, Mayim Bialik, Christian Slater, James Belushi, Flea, Sean Astin and Darren Criss.

I would hope that a Super Bowl themed special called “NFL Characters Unite” (USA, 7 p.m.) would feature only the mascots. But this one, talking about bullying, prejudice and discrimination, features Green Bay ackers wide receiver Randall Cobb, Giants wide receiver Victor Cruz and linebacker Mark Merzlich, Jets center Nick Mangold, Baltimore Ravens running back Ray Rice, Chicago Bears corner back Charles Tillman and Houston Texans defensive end J.J. Watt — in other words, NFL players who don’t have anything else to do this weekend. Hey guys, how about talking about concussion dangers?

Scheduled guests on “Real Time with Bill Maher” (HBO, 10 p.m.) include John Ridley, Ronan Farrow, Chrystia Freeland and Rep. Darrell Issa.

“Bones” (Fox, 8 p.m.) was officially renewed for a 10th season this week. Even better news: in March, it will move back to Mondays.

A former Indiana state trooper tries to clear his name after his wife and two children are found dead on a two hour “Dateline” (NBC, 9 p.m.).

Gourmet edible cookie dough is among the items pitched on a new “Shark Tank” (ABC, 9 p.m.) on which Steve Tisch sits in as guest shark.

Just as there are no actual sharks on “Shark Tank,” there are no animals in the Animal Planet marathon of “Treehouse Masters” (Animal Planet, 8, 9 and 10 p.m.).

“Ghost Adventures” (Travel, 9 p.m.) looks for Vlad the Impaler.

It doesn’t seem like Susan Lucci or Marie Osmond have gone so far that they warrant time on “Oprah: Where Are They Now?” (OWN, 9 p.m.). Maybe Ms. Winfrey is just not paying attention.

Recent winner of the Grammy for its musical soundtrack album, the original “Kinky Boots” (TMC, 8 p.m.) gets a replay.

The month long Friday night series of science in the movies concludes on Turner Classic Movies with “First Men in the Moon” (8 p.m.), “The Time Machine” (10 p.m.), “The Story of Louis Pasteur” (midnight), “Dr. Erlich’s Magic Bullet” (1:45 a.m.) and “Charly” (3:45 a.m.).

But don’t confuse “The Time Machine” (TCM, 10 p.m.) with “Hot Tub Time Machine” (TBS, 8 p.m.).

NBA action includes Thunder at Nets (ESPN, 8 p.m.) and Warriors at Jazz (ESPN, 10:30 p.m.).

In hockey, it’s Islanders at Rangers (NHL Network, 7 p.m.).

Men’s college hoops include Cleveland State at Detroit (ESPNU, 7 p.m.), Manhattan at Iona (ESPNU, 9 p.m.) and Murray State at Austin Peay (CBS Sports, 9:30 p.m.).
