Katy Perry joins forces with Kacey Musgraves before a Los Angeles audience for a new “CMT Crossroads” (CMT, 10 p.m.), where they’ll sing Perry’s “Roar” and “Teenage Dream” as well as Musgraves’ “Follow Your Arrow” and “Merry Go Round.” The session, the 50th for the series, must have gone well; the two go out on tour together this summer. Plus, it will also show on MTV, VH1, MTV Hits and Palladia.
The return of “Monumental Mysteries” (Travel, 9 p.m.) examines the 1915 bombing of the Senate reception room at the U.S. Capitol by a German professor who wanted to halt U.S. support to the Allies.
Three World Cup matches are on today: Mexico vs. Cameroon (ESPN2, noon), Spain vs. Netherlands (ESPN, 3 p.m.) and Chile vs. Australia (ESPN2, 6 p.m.).
And sort of related to soccer and Brazil, the documentary “David Beckham: Into the Unknown” (Showtime, 9 p.m.) follows the trip of the celebrated athlete into the Amazon rainforest with his friends.
Also, the two part “Brazil and the Beautiful Game” (BBC World News, 10:30 p.m.) looks at the history of soccer in Brazil, hosted by former British player Gary Lineker.
Game 5 of the Stanley Cup Finals moves back to broadcast TV with Rangers at Los Angeles (NBC, 8 p.m.).
“Crossbones” may be pre-empted by hockey tonight a the month-long Friday night salute to pirates on Turner Classic Movies more than fills the void with “The Crimson Pirate” (8 p.m.), “The Pirate” (10 p.m.), “The Princess and the Pirate” (midnight), “Abbott and Costello Meet Captain Kidd” (1:45 a.m.), “The Pirates of Blood River” (3:15 a.m.) and “Seven Seas to Calais” (4:45 a.m.).
The season finale of the courageous documentary series “Vice” (HBO, 11 p.m.) travels to Darfur and Camden.
I know it probably grows out of their series about aquarium-makers, but what does the new “The Pool Master” (Animal Planet, 9 p.m.) featuring pool designer Anthony Archer-Willis, have to do with animals? Probably nothing more than the accompanying Treehouse Masters” (Animal Planet, 8 and 10 p.m.).
Slow to the 20th anniversary onslaught is Greta Van Susteren, who owes the case her TV career. She tries to catch up with “Greta Investigates: O.J. Simpson” (Fox News, 7 p.m.).
NeNe Leakes and Jenny Slate are guests on “Fashion Police” (E!, 9 p.m.).
Possibly the most fake reality show on today is “Mountain Monsters” (Investigation Discovery, 10 p.m.), which examines the Shadow Creature in Virginia — or a stuffed version of it.
Carol Leifer, Richard Clarke, Krystal Ball, EPA Chief Gina McCarthy and Tm Rogan are guests on a new “Real Time with Bill Maher” (HBO, 10 p.m.).
Another comic turned political commentator has a standup special, “Dennis Miller: America 180” (Epix, 8 p.m.).
There’s very little Jason Vorhees scheduled for this Friday the 13th, but Turner Classic Movies has several movies about the superstitious number today with “Thirteen Women” (11:15 a.m.), “The Hour of 13” (12:30 p.m.), “The Woman on Pier 13” (2 p.m.), “Dementia 13” (3:15 p.m.), “13 Ghosts” (4:45 p.m.) and “Thirteen Frightened Girls” (6:16 p.m.).
Also, later, by coincidence: “Oceans Thirteen” (Oxygen, 10 p.m.).
Seems like a questionable tactic tonight on “Marriage Boot Camp: Reality Stars” (WE tv, 9 p.m.) when spouses are made up to look dead to see how their partners react.
The 75th anniversary celebration of Tanglewood is repeated tonight on “Great Performances” (PBS, 9 p.m., check local listings) featuring performances from James Taylor, Yo-Yo Ma, Anne-Sophie Mutter, Emanuel Ax, Peter Serkin and the Boston Symphony Orchestra.
