The new drama “Kingdom” (DirecTV, 9 p.m.) is the hard nosed saga of a mixed martial arts fighter training his younger son into the business. That the younger son is toughened up Nick Jonas from the brothers’ boy band makes it of mild interest. And there are other interesting people in the cast including Joanna Going and Kiele Sanchez. But the gritty, dire, drug-addicting side stories mute and dull the intended impact. Makes “Ray Donovan” seem like Shakespeare.
After spending all day tracking Wall Street numbers for them, CNBC pokes fun at the wealthy with “The Filthy Rich Guide” (CNBC, 10 and 10:30 p.m.), which if it doesn’t make you smile, should make you boil with anger.
Not to be overshadowed by the big premiere of “The Flash” Tuesday, “Arrow” (The CW, 8 p.m.) is back for its third season with a new villain on the horizon: Vertigo.
