David Hare’s “Worricker” series comes to a close with the third and least effective episode, “Salting the Battlefield,” on “Masterpiece Contemporary” (PBS, 9 p.m., check local listings). It follows up on last week’s island action starring Bill Nighy and Helena Bonham Carter, on the lam. Wynona Rider and Christopher Walken are out of the picture but Judy Davis is front and center and there’s a lot more of Ralph Fiennes as prime minister.
Neal got some secret documents and a whole lot of trouble ensued on a new episode of “The Newsroom” (HBO, 9 p.m.). Also, it looks like the company is about to be sold as well.
Carrie gets it together after her freakout last week and there’s some nail-biting action in the Saul situation on “Homeland” (Showtime, 9 p.m.).
The crime finally becomes more apparent in a new episode of “The Affair” (Showtime, 10 p.m.), which, like “Homeland,” were renewed for new seasons this week.
Elections are over everywhere but on “The Good Wife” (CBS, 9 p.m.), where Alicia has to do something odious for there campaign.
On “The Comeback” (HBO, 10 p.m.), Valerie tries to talk Jane (Laura Silverman) into leading the reality camera team around her again, but she’s been busy making Oscar-winning documentaries.
An alcoholic patient causes problems on “Getting On” (HBO, 10:30 p.m.) and news gets out about the pregnancy,
It’s New England at Indianapolis (NBC, 8:30 p.m.) on Sunday Night Football. Earlier NFL action includes Tampa Bay at Washington (Fox, 1 p.m.), Oakland at San Diego (CBS, 4 p.m.) and Philadelphia at Green Bay (Fox, 4:25 p.m.).
Spreading his puppet act all over the globe is “Jeff Dunham: All Over the Map” (Comedy Central, 8 p.m.), a new special.
The Bob Fosse musical “Sweet Charity” (TCM, 8 p.m.) with Shirley MacLaine is actually based on Fellini’s “Nights of Cabiria” (10:45 p.m.).
Earlier, it’s musicals all afternoon with “Oliver!” (TCM, noon), “A Star is Born” (TCM, 2:45 p.m.) and “Show Boat” (TCM, 6 p.m.).
There’s only one pro basketball game – Houston at Oklahoma City (NBA, 7 p.m.). But there’s a load of college hoops, with Buffalo at Kentucky (ESPNU, noon), Chattanooga at Wisconsin (ESPNews, 1 p.m.), Hampton at Syracuse (ESPNU, 4 p.m.), Chicago State at Creighton (Fox Sports 1, 5:30 p.m.), Robert Morris at North Carolina (ESPNU, 6 p.m.) and Alcorn State at Texas (ESPNU, 8 p.m.).
