By now the deadly epidemic that came to New York is spreading across the city in the form of long-tongued vampires.

The new tack for Corey Stall’s Dr. Ephraim Goodweather is to fight it with a biological weapon. But the next plase of the master plan is already under way. Those especially who feel abandoned by the recent season end of “Penny Dreadful” will welcome this return.

A couple of other decent TV starts their seasons tonight. On “Ray Donovan” (Showtime, 9 p.m.) the title character is at his wit’s end, but then again he always is, as a family hires him to find a kidnapped son.

Even more anticipated is the third season of “Masters of Sex” (Showtine, 10 p.m.) in which the famous duo are about to publish their famous sex study.

Comic-Con finds its way to the screen again as the setting for the second MTV Fandom Awards (MTV, 8 p.m.), hosted by Bella Thorne and Tyler Posey from San Diego.

The oafish remarks of Donald Trump has landed his already icky bikini contest to cable. Good luck trying to find “The Miss USA Pageant” (Reelz, 8 p.m.).

Aviary info comes hidden in a game tease on the special “Real Angry Birds” (Nat Geo Wild, 9 p.m.) in which actual creatures are examined. It comes alongside another wildlife specials, “The Eagles” (Nat Geo Wild, 10 p.m.), not about the rock band.

Celia makes amends with Alan on “Last Tango in Halifax” (PBS, 8 p.m., check local listings).

Baseball ends the first half of the season with Yankees at Boston (TBS, 1:30 p.m.) and St. Louis at Pittsburgh (ESPN, 8 p.m.).

The all star break is marked with the kind of pet promotion seen around the Super Bowl. Hence, the “Paw Star Game” (Hallmark, 5 p.m.), in which cats scamper around on a pretend baseball field.

Shark Week ends in “Shark Island” (Discovery, 8 p.m.).

Four nominations for eviction are named on “Big Brother” (CBS, 8 p.m.). The twins count as one.

It’s the men’s final at Wimbledon (ESPN, 9 a.m.) between Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic.

Final rounds are scheduled in the Scottish Open (NBC, noon), U.S. Women’s Open (Fox, 2:30 a.m.), and the John Deere Classic (CBS, 4:30 p.m.).

The Tour de France (NBC Sports, 8 a.m.) reaches stage nine, traveling from Vannes to Plumelec.
