fl-spring-broke-documentary-20160304Florida’s spring break began innocently with collegiate swim competitions in the 60s and just grew, fueled in recent decades by debauched live broadcasts by MTV and an invasion of sponsors seeking to brand and sell to the drunken hoarde. Kids still get a week off for college, though some Florida cities have clamped down on the anything goes atmosphere, depicted in Alex Gibney’s “Spring Broke” (Showtime, 9 p.m.).

“Second Chance” (Fox, 9 p.m.), a series that won’t likely get one, was up its initial season.

The third season finale of “Bring It!” (Lifetime, 9 p.m.) is set t the Battle Royale.

“Atlanta Plastic” (Lifetime, 10 p.m.), which is not a show about Southern manufacturing, but about cosmetic surgeons, returns for a second season. You have to believe there will be some crossover with some of the many other Atlanta-based reality series and sure enough, it begins with Mimi Harris from “Bring It!”

In the new series “Backstage” (Disney, 9 p.m.) is a drama set at a fictional arts-based high school, a la “Fame.” Two friends begin anew at the school as ballet dancers; a singer struggles with stage fright.

Betsy Ross becomes a larger character on “Sleepy Hollow” (Fox, 8 p.m.).

“Vice” (HBO, 11 p.m.) lingers in Cuba to investigate its underground cultural revolution and also looks at life for Palestinians in 2016.

Among those in an episode of “Animals” (HBO, 11:30 p.m.) about New York City squirrels is the musician Kurt Vile, who portrays a singing squirrel.

Sen. Cory Booker, former Gov. Jennifer Grandholm, Ian Bremmer, Reihan Salam and Jerrod Carmichael are guests on “Real Time with Bill Maher” (HBO, 10 p.m.).

The Merle Oberon salute on Turner Clasic Movies concludes with “Desiree” (8 p.m.), “Hotel” (10 p.m.), “Deep in My Heart” (12:15 a.m.), “Berlin Express” (2:30 a.m.), “Night Song” (4 a.m.) and “Affectionately Yours” (5:45 a.m.).

The Sweet 16 rounds conclude for the Men’s NCAA basketball tournament with Virginia vs. Iowa State (CBS, 7:10 p.m.) Notre Dame vs. Wisconsin (TBS, 7:27 p.m.), Syracuse vs. Gonzaga (CBS, 9:40 p.m.) and North Carolina vs. Indiana (TBS, 9:57 p.m.).

But the Sweet 16s are just beginning in the women’s tournament with Syracuse vs. South Carolina (ESPN, 7 p.m.), Washington vs. Kentucky (ESPN2, 7 p.m.), Stanford vs. Notre Dame (ESPN, 9 p.m.) and Tennessee vs. Ohio State (ESPN2, 9 p.m.).

The NCAA tournament in hockey reaches its semifinals with Northeastern vs. North Dakota (ESPNU, 2 p.m.), Notre Dame vs. Michigan (ESPNU, 5:30 p.m.) and Harvard vs. Boston College (ESPNU, 8 p.m.).

Pro basketball includes Charlotte at Detroit (NBA, 7:30 p.m.).

Hockey has Islanders at Tampa Bay (NHL, 7:30 p.m.).

And in spring baseball, it’s St. Louis vs. Mets (ESPN, 1 p.m.) and Angels vs. Oakland (MLB, 4 p.m.).
