Jeff Ross is already acknowledged as a master of roasts, having chalked up Rob Lowe earlier in the week. But he also sees roast-style humor as healing in a way, having taken it to prison previously and now right in the middle of racial tension with police in his special “Jeff Ross Roasts Cops” (Comedy Central, 11 p.m.).
Ross rides along with cops in Boston and attends a Black Live Matter rally to see life from their different points of view. Then he lets them all have it.
On the made for TV “Girl in the Box” (Lifetime, 8 p.m.) Addison Tomlin plays a woman hitchhiker who is abducted by a young couple who hold her captive for seven years. Zane Holtz and Zelda Williams — Robin Williams’ daughter – play the abductors Cameron and Janice Hooker. The film is followed by a two hour documentary about the actual 1977 abduction “Colleen Stan: The Girl in the Box” (Lifetime, 10 p.m.).
As part of the week’s commemoration, here’s a two hour examination of 9/11 on “15 Septembers Later” (History, 8 p.m.) and “9/11 Inside the Pentagon” (PBS, 10 p.m., heck local listings) “9/11: The Days After” (History, 10 p.m.) and “9/11: As It Happened” (MSNBC, 10 p.m.).

The series premiere of “Hollywood Homicide Uncovered” (Reelz, 10 p.m.) concentrates on Robert Blake. Then they belabor the point with “Robert Blake: Killer?” (Reels, 11 p.m.).
The night’s ace in the hole may be a rerun of “Mr. Robot” (USA, 11 p.m.).
Head in the stars? Tonight features the documentary “Building Star Trek” (Smithsonian, 8 p.m.), last year’s “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” (Starz, 9 p.m.)
