Started with a salute to Rod Temperton, the noted British R&B songwriter who died this week at 66. Then heard a bit from new albums by Drive-By Truckers and The Handsome Family. A couple of things from Sturgill Simpson were followed by some North Carolina blues and some weird songs about Bill Clinton.
A couple of songs from one of Bruce Springsteen’s first bands, The Castiles, led into a whole garage full of garage rock. Closed with some Southside Johnny, who plays the area next week and the Gang of Four, who play the city Saturday.
