one-day-at-a-time-netflix-previewMore than 40 years after he developed the original Bonnie Franklin version, Norman Lear has made a fresh version of his “One Day at a Time” (Netflix, streaming), this time with a contemporary Latin flavor by centering on a Cuban-American family. This time around it is Justina Machado (of “Six Feet Under’ and much more) as the recently separated, former military mom, raising a teen daughter and son with the help of her mom, played by Rita Moreno. Stephen Tobolowsky plays the doctor where Machado’s Penelope works. Much better than Netflix’s own “Fuller House” reboot, this one has a warmth and zing that most network sitcoms would envy.
