After helping build the transcontinental railroad the Chinese were forbidden to come to America and those here could not become citizens — a law that would stand for more than 60 years until World War II.

The soapy “Queen Sugar” (OWN, 10 p.m.) returns for a third season with Ralph at a crossroads and Nova deciding between journalism and direct action.
They join a couple of other unscripted returning summer shows. Jamie Foxx is back to host the updated “Name That Tune” game show “Beat Shazam” (Fox, 8 p.m.). Then it’s Andy Cohen as Chuck Woolery for the second season of the rebooted “Love Connection” (Fox, 9 p.m.).
