kentuckyPut on a big flowery hat and pour a mint julep. Today’s the day for the 145th running of the Kentucky Derby (NBC, 6 p.m.) from Churchill Downs in Louisville. One of the favorites, Omaha Beach, has been scratched. But some remaining names this year include Cutting Humor, Improbable, Maximum Security and both Game Winner and Win Win Win. The Derby, whose actual post time is 6:50 p.m.,  is preceded by a series of undercard races, first on NBC Sports Network at noon, then on NBC at 2:30 p.m. for what amounts to be five hours of coverage of two minutes of racing.

It’s part of a big sports day that includes  a couple of primetime second round playoff games on broadcast TV with Golden State at Houston (ABC, 8:30 p.m.) in the NBA, opposite Columbus at Boston (NBC, 7:15 p.m.) in the Stanley Cup.

“Surviving R. Kelly” (Lifetime, 10 p.m.) gets an update. The original series in January led to 10 counts of aggravated sexual abuse against four victims and a remarkable interview with Gayle King. This special, subtitled “The Impact,” is hosted by Soledad O’Brien hosts.

“The Disappearance of Susan Cox Powell” (Oxygen, 7 p.m.) looks into the disappearance of a young mother in Utah.

Jen Lilley and Dan Jeannotte play competitors in an international wine competition who find some common ground in “Paris, Wine & Romance” (Hallmark, 9 p.m.), the rare original Hallmark romance not shot in Canada.

Pulled from its original time slot for low ratings and sidelined for weeks, LeBron James’ “Million Dollar Mile” (CBS, 8 p.m.) resurfaces on Saturday nights, where the remaining episodes will play out.

At least it’s not in competition with his other series, “The Shop: Uninterrupted” (HBO, 10 p.m.), the talk show set in barbershops, where Seth Rogen and Travis Scott are guests

“Alien News Desk” (Syfy, 11:30 p.m.) ends its inaugural season with a pair of episodes.

Last year’s “The Predator” (HBO, 8:05 p.m.), with Olivia Munn and Trevante Rhodes in the fifth of the series of alien invaders, makes its premium cable debut, is preceded by the 2010 “Predators” (HBO, 6:10 p.m.).

Confusingly, “Patriots Day” (History, 8 p.m.) follows “The Patriot” (History, 5 p.m.).

Not sure I agree with the premise of “1989: The Year that Made the Modern World” (National Geographic, 8:30 p.m.).

Two designers on “Trading Spaces” (TLC, 8 p.m.) are asked to reconsider past work.

A baby is stolen from a crib on “Ransom” (CBS, 9 p.m.).

“Boo! A Madea Halloween” (USA, 7:30 p.m.) is the rare movie that incorporated critics’ reviews in its title.

On “The Son” (AMC, 9 p.m.), Young Eli helps the Comanches regroup after an attack.

A pitfall has a 16-pound tumor on “The Vet Life” (Animal Planet, 9 p.m.).

On “The Secret Life of the Zoo” (Animal Planet, 10 p.m.), a female is added to the lemur den.

“Iyanla: Fix My Life” (OWN, 9 p.m.) checks in in with Syleena Johnson.

Celibacy is the topic on “The Book of John Gray” (OWN, 10 p.m.).

Baseball includes Minnesota at Yankees (MLB, 1 p.m.), St. Louis at Cubs (Fox Sports 1, 4 p.m.), Oakland at Pittsburgh (Fox Sports 1, 7 .m.) and Dodgers at San Diego (MLB, 10 p.m.).

NASCAR runs its Allied Steel Buildings 200 (Fox Sports 1, 1:30 p.m.).

Golf has third round play in the Wells Fargo Championship (Golf, 1 p.m.; CBS, 3 p.m.).

Women’s college lacrosse has Navy at Loyola (CBS Sports, noon) in the Patriot League tournament final, and Georgetown vs. Denver (Fox Sports 2, 2:30 p.m.) in the Big East tournament final.

Men’s college lacrosse has Quinnipiac vs. Marist (ESPNU, 10 a.m.) in the MAAC tournament final, Vermont vs. UMBC (ESPNU, noon) in the America East tournament final, Notre Dame at Virginia (ESPNU, 2 p.m.) in the ACC tournament final, and Georgetown vs. Denver (CBS Sports, 4:30 p.m.) in the Big East tournament final.

College baseball includes Pittsburgh at Florida State (NBC Sports, 1 p.m.) and Vanderbilt at South Carolina (ESPNU, 8 p.m.).

Men’s college volleyball has Hawaii vs. Long Beach State (ESPN2, 8 p.m.).

Sam Smith and Anderson East play an “Austin City Limits” (PBS, 11 p.m., check local listings).
