TV is skipping right over Thanksgiving to next month’s holiday, with nightly Christmas movies, including two new ones tonight.
Melissa Joan Hart stars as an event coordinator at her family lodge, runs into her college sweetheart (Ricardo Chavira) in the made-for-TV holiday romance, “Christmas Reservations” (Lifetime, 8 p.m.)
And “Merry & Bright” (Hallmark, 8 p.m.) a couple running a candy cane company spark a romance. It stars Jodie Sweetin, Andrew Walker and Sharon Lawrence.
In “Daniel Sloss: X” (HBO, 10 p.m.), the Scottish comedian performs a new standup show taped last April in Sydney, Australia.
It’s almost all sports in prime time broadcasts with The Breeder’s Cup (NBC, 8 p.m.) in addition to two college football games — SMU at Memphis (ABC, 7:30 p.m.) and Oregon at Southern California (Fox, 8 p.m.). Plus a lot of other games, listed below.
The latest true nature series to follow “Planet Earth II” (BBC America, 8 p.m.) is “Seven Worlds, One Planet” (BBC America, 9 p.m.), from the same producers, which has a one hour and 12 minute “preview” tonight. It covers Antarctica and is again narrated by David Attenborough.
A winner is named on this season’s “The Great British Baking Show” (Netflix, streaming).
There’s a crocodile love story on “Crikey! It’s the Irwins” (Animal Planet, 8 p.m.).
“Amanda to the Rescue” (Animal Planet, 10 p.m.) helps a one-eyed Rottweiler.
The eight-year-old “Crazy, Stupid Love” (HBO, 8 p.m.) with Steve Carell, Julianne Moore, Ryan Gosling, Emma Stone, Marisa Tomei and Kevin Bacon, is an odd choice for the network’s premiere movie night (which usually premieres newer flicks).
“Second Act” (Showtime, 9 p.m.), with Jennifer Lopez and Treat Williams, is at least from 2018.
A Boston couple looks for a home in the suburbs on “Ready to Love” (OWN, 10 p.m.).
Melody tries to reinvent her look on “Love & Marriage: Huntsville” (OWN, 9 p.m.).
“The Hunger Games: Catching Fire” (AMC, 6 p.m.) is followed by “The Hunger Games: Mockingly, Part 1” (AMC, 9 p.m.). And “Fifty Shades Darker” (Bravo, 6:16 p.m.) is followed by more “Fifty Shades Darker” (Bravo, 8:52 p.m.).
Two Kentucky stories, the documentary “Harlan County, U.S.A.” (8 p.m.) and “Roseanna McCoy” (10 p.m.) begin the night on Turner Classic Movies, followed by the noir “Sweet Smell of Success” (midnight) and two classic comedies, “Arsenic and Old Lace” (2 a.m.) and “His Girl Friday” (4:15 a.m.).
College football begins at noon with Michigan at Maryland (ABC), Nebraska at Purdue (Fox), North Carolina State at Wake Forest (ESPN), Houston at Central Florida (ESPN2), Buffalo at Eastern Michigan (ESPNU) and Northern Illinois at Central Michigan (noon).
