In lieu of sports of any kind, ESPN agreed to move up by two months the premiere of its 10-part, 20 hour Michael Jordan documentary series “The Last Dance” (ESPN, 9 p.m.). Chronicling the 1997-1998 season was a long time coming. First Jordan, the Chicago Bulls owner Jerry Reinsdorf and coach Phil Jackson had to give permission for a crew follow the team for the season, as it pursued its sixth NBA championship in eight years.
The result will include interview and footage of Jordan in his final season, as well as teammates Scottie Pippen, Dennis Rodman and Steve Kerr as well as prominent colleagues as Kobe Bryant. IT will run over five weeks through May 17 in two versions — an unexpurgated version on the mother station and a bleeped one for the whole family on ESPN2.
